With 100 years of history you can find a QB to fit any argument. Truth is there is no game, no stretch, or no season that can define a career. Only time.

Me? I like what i see out of Purdy. But we dont know what next year will bring? Or even this weekend. Given the garbage that is oit there, why not take a risk on him?
Here here Joe, well said.

I certainly wouldn't currently forecast greatness for Purdy, not by a long shot. BUT..with what he's shown thus far, I certainly wouldn't say its not a possibility either. NFL history is littered with late bloomers, whether that was guys who had zero expectations coming into the league, or guys who may have had expectations, were labeled busts, and only later blossomed. It certainly COULD happen, so until he proves otherwise, why not give him the benefit of the doubt? That's my take on him.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

NFL history is littered
Even as a meatball Bears fan, i think back to the "complicated" Terry Shea offense no one could seem to figure out. Seemingly out of nowhere, the Bears sign surfer-dude Chad Hutchinson literally off the beach and in his first game just tore it up.

Of course we all know how that imploded just games later.

haha..yeah, I'm not so sure I buy into that side of the debate. tore up his knee in the playoffs of '12-'13 season, started the first 13 games of the '13 season, and was basically that same dude he was during the '12 season, only marginally worse, than benched for Cousins. Came back as the starter for first two games of '14 dislocated his ankle, returned and was basically the same QB he was in '13, than the concussion where he missed all of '15 and went to Cleveland where he broke his shoulder and then spent the rest of his career as a backup.

If an injury is the crutch to use for RG#'s career going into the crapper, I would point to the preseason concussion where he missed a full year, and Cleveland is the team that did, or did not, rush him back too soon.

But more to the point, not only did I not buy into his game translating to the NFL at that time, but him being fragile, especially given his game, and being not long for the league, was also part of my reasoning as to him being a bust.
Perhaps all those injuries made him gun shy, altered his state of play, but whether the 'Skins rushed him back or not, he was on that trajectory regardless.

I do think his fall was in large part his own doing but to say he was similar in 13 and 14 to how he was in 12 is crazy talk. He was legit really really good both throwing and running in 12. He never again had that degree of confidence as a passer or mobility as a runner.

There's definitely a world where RG3 ends up a really good QB with a 15 year career. But both he and his coaching staff did not do a good job of maximizing their odds there. He should never have been left in that game and the injury clearly hurt him but he also mismanaged just about everything from that point out out of pure hubris.

Obviously I wasn't able to watch how he played, but the stats say he was only marginally worse. I'm sure he probably looked worse and played worse, than the stats suggest.

He was magical in year 1 and that offense looked unstoppable.

Now, defenses eventual catch up. At that time read option was still relatively new. So I do think part of the early success was simply defenses not being prepared for RG’s skill set.

But I have to agree that he was clearly never the same after the injury.

Oh %100. He was among, if not the, first to have that in the pros and it worked really well for the first year

After much thought, debate, tug of wars, eurekas, redactions, dismissals, and maybes…

@MilkSpiller22 - New Team 5 has a new name.

#3, Mr. Friendship
Butt Fumble - as my first thought, it outlasted so many others. Encompassing the Jets, and a historical/hysterical event which can be considered a pun on milk’s bet

#2, Runner Up
Schrodinger’s Stat - no explanation necessary, we all know and love the milk scoring theories, but if they stay in the box we’ll never know how wonderful they can be.

And the winner, based on natural and current events, and maybe not as laudatory as number two… but man, I liked number two.

@obxyankeefan , lock it in, that’s my final answer.

And milk… I’ll let you decide if “Jets” should be plural or not.

Edited. But I didn’t use it exactly I used J-e-t-s instead of jets. It was a mistake. If you want me to change it to your original I will.

I was going to put number 2 up there if I had did it.

@Shanemansj13 no bathroom jokes please:dhd:

I’m happy it is not #2. I don’t think I really get how it applies in this. If my scoring theories were in a box would they be dead or alive or both at the same time??? He says no explanation is needed. But I think I may demand one!!!

I is it just because stat rhymes with cat?? Or is it the coincidence that cats love milk and are infamous for spilling it??See so many reasons an explanation is needed. Come on @TKOSpikes

You’ve made three (spot on) references, so I think I was right.

But the universe has spoken.

Take, for example, your baseball scoring…
If it stayed in the box, one could think it’s great and think it’s terrible… until you apply it.
I like your baseball scoring. It’s tough… like baseball.

Of course though, it’s not a direct, exact comparison, and yes…
stat rhymes with cat, and sadly, if cat wasn’t Schrodinger’s that, the what in the box wouldn’t matter a tat…
