Arizona is the winner in the Tomas sweepstakes! They sign him for 6 years a 68 million. A lot less than rumored. Tomas can opt out after the 4th year.

Amaro has a reason for not getting Tomas. He wants to give Brown another year to turn around. But then again since when has Amaro had GOOD reasoning!

That discussion is absolutely useless anymore Northeast. Braindead just keeps doing the same crap repeatedly and it never is going to change.

True! But is the rest of the organization brain dead too? One has to wonder!

  • Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. says he was “not disappointed” to see Yasmany Tomas land with another club, Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports. Amaro did say that the Phils had “dialogue” yesterday with Tomas’s representatives, which would seem to indicate that the team had at least some involvement right down to the wire.
  • Amaro went on to reject the concept that the team was focused on bolstering its lineup. “Who said we were looking for a power bat?” Amaro queried. “We have a long-term plan and the moves we make are based on that. We’re looking for pitching right now.”

This explains why they signed Nelson and those other four slackers a few days ago. Nice long term plan. Total insanity.

Yea Jvett. This numbnuts reminds me of the complete bullshit double talk coming out of D.C. To answer your question Northeast: The rest of the franchise must be braindead if they all put their stamp of approaval on this complete idiot who constantly offers bullshit as valid baseball startegy. The man lives in a fantasy world that includes the toothfairy and santy claus and the owner and everyone else stands by and nods their approving heads.

The fans will speak out this year by the dwindling attendence numbers of asses not in the seats and the lack of a viewing audience via TV, we will be heard, but will they do something about it??? As long as jackass is the GM its a safe bet to say prob not.

Tomas got an out in his contract that lets him opt out after four years and become an RFA. I don't blame Ruben for not doing that deal.

I would gladly take him for 4 years. At a cost of 46.5 million. Plus Amaro never made him an offer so it is all moot!

I agree completely. Not only that, the opt out clause can work for the team's benefit as well. Less risk. There is no guarantee that he will live up to his hype. Too bad Ryne Howard didn't have an opt out clause in his contract!
