Well, technically, yes. He's taking the Okert spot. Which I did not expect
But he is performing the Petit job. It was basically going to be him or Suarez.

Not really surprised on these moves but disappointed that Blanco gets the nod over Parker.Rosters announced.
Moore, Blach and Nunez added.
Adrianza, Okert and Parker removed.
Agreed. Not sure what Blanco adds, except another defensive OFer. But Blancos defense is not what it once was.Not really surprised on these moves but disappointed that Blanco gets the nod over Parker.
Sanchez removed from the 40. That leaves only 29 on the current 40, so the Giants have PLENTY of flexibility (roster-space-wise) entering the offseason.Matt Moore's option exercised and Tony Sanchez sent outright to the minor leagues.

I forget where the list for eligible rule V draftees is, but I think there was only a handful to be worried about.
Quoted above for your linking pleasure.
Completely forgot that he was still with the organization. Guess they really like this guy. Don't see how he needs to be protected as he probably won't be ready to start the season in April. Strickland was able to get snuck through the Rule 5 the December after his surgery (at least I think he wasn't protected the year after his surgery).Ian Gardeck has been added to the active roster
If he were taken in the rule 5, the drafting team could easily stash him in the 60 for as long as they like. If he really is a prospect, his being hurt may actually increase the chance that he is taken.Completely forgot that he was still with the organization. Guess they really like this guy. And I was wrong about Strickland. He had surgery in May 2013 and was put back on the 40 man in November 2013. Those pesky facts. . .If he were taken in the rule 5, the drafting team could easily stash him in the 60 for as long as they like. No Rogers??? He was at the top of my "no-brainer" list.Today is the deadline for minor leaguers to be added to the 40-man roster.
Reyes Moronta, Dan Slania, Chase Johnson.... and Orlando Calixte (!) added to the 40-man roster to be protected from the rule V draft.
The 1st three were pretty much what I expected. Calixte is interesting. Signed last week as a minor league free agent. Utility infielder. Fangraphs ranked him as the 6th best minor league free agent position player.

One final add, Miguel Gomez.
Puts the roster at 40.
