Peralta is at least assessing the situation and hoping for a big league deal from the Giants. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if this happens.
He looks to be a slightly negative WAR player at this point, but that may be what is available. In general, I would be against this kind of signing, but we need bodies, and there really aren’t any youngsters in the system currently to take that spot. I wouldn’t be overly against signing him.

Giants sign outfielder Jerar Encarnacion
I like his potential more than Paralta.

Not a huge fan of either, but we are desperate.

We will take what we can get and hopefully it helps. Hopefully our regulars step up and make up the difference as well. I’m pleading, praying, hoping and begging it helps.

I don't see him as part of the answer...he looks rather washed.

His team has played only nine games. The Mexican League season just started on April 12. The 26-year-old outfielder has gone yard in every contest with the exception of April 17. He's earning style points along the way with estimated distances of 441 feet and 468 feet.

More walks than K's?

62% of his hits have been homers?

Dude will never fit in here.

Interesting that Reetz was recalled over Luciano. However, Reetz has played some outfield and has the best offensive numbers of the remaining guys on the 40 not on the active roster or injured (and there is no one in Sacramento not on the 40 who had better offensive numbers, unless you count guys who've played 1 to 3 games in AAA this year).

I think it probably has more to do with Bailey being sick AND coming off protocol.

Giants also optioned Black today and recalled Avila.

Apparently, they are going to skip Black's turn in the rotation with Thursday's off day and hope that Snell will be ready for the next turn. I guess that they don't have much faith in Black right now.
