Also I didn't know we scheduled Oregon recently. Should be good series.

Now the BCS and related polls are a thing of the past, perhaps TV ratings should help dictate the final 4 playoff teams.

They are paying the bills, no?

It was said in jest, but so true. There are always going to be biases involved. Generally, it will be a decal bias. An OU is better than an OSU. You will have a "hot conference" also. Both boil down to money. Only reason the playoff is better is that it doubled the potential candidates for a title. I find it kind of funny that anyone thinks the committee/playoff will change things outside of that.

Hey, incarnate word is a good team, they can almost beat some local high schools here in San Antonio.

Oregon is guilty of scheduling cupcakes even after the playoffs became a reality.

South Dakota State

UC Davis

Eastern WA

Southern Utah

Won't be so bad hopefully as they also still have 2 with the following. Nebraska, tOSU, aTm.

Oregon has some but at the same time has a big name on every year also through 21. 16 even has 2 big 5 teams

The 2014 schedule was made before this new playoff era came out.

With that being said, you need to understand the mentality of Ken Starr. Ken Starr's ego is bigger than the State of Alaska.

For Ken Starr, college is not about education. Running Baylor is for his ego and his legacy. It is about money and his ego.

Having a highly ranked football team brings in more donor dollars.

Starr does says a lot of things because of his religious beliefs, but he always seems to forget about avarice.

Ya that is good. And they could do much worse than Bowling Green and Nevada also for their #2 fbs game in those other years.

Teams don't truly know what precedent the Playoff Committee is going to set for picking teams. Will they favor Conference Champs over highly-ranked runner-ups who skipped the Conf Title games? Will SOS act as a tie-breaker between teams 4&5? Will an SEC team get a bump over a B1G team with the same record?

Until the SEC at-large gets bumped by another conference at-large team, there really is no incentive to schedule a tough OOC opponent. However, a Big XII, B1G, or ACC Team may look for that extra SOS boost down the road. Right now, I don't think there is enough scheduling incentive until the selection precedent is set.

By the Numbers: Cupcakes still rule in College Football Playoff era - CBSSports.com

If you check the link, read the schedule for Baylor in the Playing Up/Playing down chart. Incarnate Word? lol

Stupid article, states OSU is Playing Up and lists their games against Texas. These won't occur until 2022&2023.

It's also strange that the article doesn't mention the 2 sets of home&home that OSU has with OU and Oregon. Does Oregon shortened it to UO or do they reverse it like OU?

One rule change would change all of this.

Only allow 1 guarantee game per team per year. This would allow everyone to bring in a creampuff of their choice, but only one. What to play 3 easy marks? Great do 'em as home and homes. Go play Incarnate Word at their place, wherever that is.

The thing that folks miss is that not only are they setting up easy games, but they are cheating on hoarding extra home games, too. Of course, that falls into the laps of the fans. They buy the tickets for those 5 touchdown slaughters. If they stopped buying tickets, the practice would stop. But after a case of beer n ribs, and a couple of bongs, those cupcakes make for a nice dessert.

We haven't even had a play-off yet. There is nothing to go by. How is anybody to know what the criteria is going to be?

That Bowling Green game is a very unique one, Bowling Green usually doesn't travel that far. It might actually be somewhat interesting if Dino Babers is still there, but he likely won't be.

You couldn't be more wrong. I'm sure you have the personal knowledge to make these kinds to sweeping generalizations? :L

I was fortunate enough to be on a trial team with him in the early 90s where he argued on our behalf in front of the Supreme Court of the US, and I can tell you that he is one of the most humble, genuine, brilliant men that you could ever want to meet. You may not like his politics, but your personal description of him, that I am going to assume you have no personal experience to base it on, contradicts almost anything that every reasonable, non-biased person has written.

For anyone that cares to get the real story on Ken Starr, read this: Is Ken Starr the Man Who Can Unify Baylor? - Administration - The Chronicle of Higher Education

Reading is a challenge I guess.

This is based off of all the scheduling announcements since the playoff was approved. Basically out of about 300 Announcements, only 86 were vs Power 5 conference teams.

It's an advantage to be a power school with a weak OOC schedule. The mid-majors are the ones that need the notoriety of playing traditional powers to move up in the polls.

Yeppers...Smiles really does OWN the pulse of this issue...no wonder many show their hate.

ALWAYS a good read on your replies...

BTW....

I WILL NOT pay/travel/buy cable to watch this BS, starting with my team. It's rediculous and a slap in the fan base's chops.

I WILL purchase cable by Oct 1st tho...when the real stuff begins. Till then it's Sportsbar HO!
