Cubs claim Hamels.

It seems that the Cubs were awarded the claim on Hammels. The Phillies are ready to deal if they will part with double A prospect Addison Russell but the Cubs say no. Who is the crazy one here?:rollseyes:

The Phillies organization should be declared insane if they give up Hamels one of the best pitchers in baseball. There are those fans out there who prefer a total bottoms up rebuild so we can be champions in 2021, but this team can shift to younger players and get back in the hunt within 2-3 years or so. It's better to take a shot at that scenario. I would not blame Hamels though if he got disgusted and demanded to be traded but I don't see that happening.

It won't. Especially to the cubs. I think it was a move on the cubs part to keep one of the best pitchers in the game going to a division rival for the next 4-5 seasons, minimum.

I don't see them making a move like this and giving up major talent when they are realistically still in the very early stages of trying to build something.

Well Byrd is still here and I suspect Hamels isn't going anywhere. The move we did make was average and I think we got the worst half of that one. Hernandez was beginning to come around. I like Buchanan. They should bring back Neris and get rid of fat ass O'Sullivan. He is a terrible pitcher as he proved last night.
