OF Nelson Cruz is expected to be activated from the DL on Tuesday, the first day he's eligible to return from a strained hamstring. The Rangers will try to convince Cruz not to run too hard on the hamstring at the start, but he is expected to go back into the starting lineup. If so, it will be the first time the Rangers have had their full lineup since July 22.

I dont believe anybody would have to be sent down... only reason would be to help the minor league playoff situation... which.. well... are now over for the Rangers affiliates...

I'll take that line-up (healthy) against any pitching staff in baseball. Though I'd DH Cruz, put Moreland in LF and MY at 1B until Cruz is 100%. And we'd still have Yorvi & Chavez on the bench as well Gentry for PR/defense late.

Cruz and Nap batting 7th/8th?! That's just ridiculous lol, but it allows us to split of the righties/lefties a bit. And Murph in September is pretty much Josh Hamilton on steroids.

Come on ford ... you know this stuff. From 1 Sep onward the Active roster is the 40 man roster. There is no 25 man roster until the post season begins.

Cruz doesn't offer any defensive advantage over the five other active OFers on the roster ... so makes sense to keep him just pinch hitting where the choice is Cruz as RH PH ... or Matt Treanor, Esteban German, or Taylor Teagarden (when he comes off the DL).

Yeah, but I can't keep up with moves/injuries/call ups/ etc. My brain is full from work right now, can't keep MLB crazy roster rules in there as well

Wash moved Cruz to the 7 spot before he got hurt and it was working out pretty good

Cruz simply does not offer sufficient defensive strength to warrant the risk of him playing RF. If TEX were to make it through to the WS ... then Cruz would play RF over Moreland with the pitcher batting #8 in Moreland's spot.

You are right ... which is pretty much exactly what MLB.com reports as what Wash intends. Which allows Hamilton to stay in LF and Gentry/Chavez to play CF with Cruz bat in play to PH for them any time Wash wants.

Was surprised he didn't PH Cruz for Chavez last night ... but maybe he wanted to give Gentry the chance to grow a bit more. Perhaps envisioning Cruz flailing on 3 pitches with the bases loaded in his first AB return was too much for Wash. Less damaging on Cruz and TEX psychy to have Gentry K in that AB than having Cruz do it.
