It would be nice to have him back soon but it doesn't look like that will happen. He adds a lot to the games esp the playoffs.

Maybe if they can get buy a round or two he will be back. They are saying the same thing about Derek Roy but somehow I doubt the Sabres will get that far.

I love Geno...but the guy has been anything but a consistent leader.

It is amazing to me that Crosby is still top 10 in points and goals. If he hadnt gotten hurt he would be the runaway winner for like 3 or 4 different awards.

Perhaps they should err to the side of caution and shut him down for the season....? I'd hate to see it rushed at all and for him to have continued symptoms.

At this point most people feel that way. But, considering the way this injury has progressed I don't think he comes back unless he's 100% anyway. I mean, he'll go through contact practice, and that's when we'll really know if he's ready.

Good point Comeds. Why fuck with the guy's career by bringing him back early and risking further damage.

Agreed. I don't even like the guy but I'd prefer that they hold him out until they are absolutely sure he's ok rather than risk more injuries.

I have thought that he will be out till after the Bog or GM meeting about hits to the head. I think he probably could come back at anytime, but is waiting till after those meeting to get stricter rules in place for shots to the head, regardless of accidental or not. Since he is the biggest name right now with a concussion, his star staus should fuel the debate to crack down on head shots at the meeting.

Then after that will resume skating and be back playing at the end of March or very early April.

I couldn't disagree more...If Crosby could be playing right now, he'd be out there.

True, He's a great player and it's not worth the risk of his career to take a chance on bringing him back early.

Sorry Croz man, I disagree as well. Sid is FAR to competitive to be sitting out for some diplomatic reasons. He was vocal after it happened because, well, it had just hit home for him that he was probably in for a long recovery. Regardless, the NHL won't make any REAL changes until the offseason anyway.

I can see why everyone disagrees with me. I don't have any backup on this one, other than my gut.

I could be very wrong and will admit it if/when I am.

He doesn't need to rush back to salvage this season. I have said from the start a healthy Crosby equals a deep playoff run. Pens minus Crosby 2nd round at best, JMO. As others have said don't come back too soon and become the next Savard, Lindros.

Besides Mike Comrie will be back soon, and we will all be saying Sid who?????

Well, in a couple weeks you can tell me how wrong I am. I just have a gut feel on it.

While I disagree in general because of the other examples people have mentioned (health/competitive)...I strongly disagree with your reason. I just don't think Sid is holding out until after the meetings in hopes that there will be stricter punishment in the future just because it's Sidney Crosby. That would be making it all about him and even a biased Ovechkin lover knows that that's not what Sid's about.

I can only think of a few athletes in general who would ever do that...and they're all in the NBA/NFL.
