The line shuffle, which as discussed on other web pages, had a desired effect.

The G line with Raffle and Simmonds scored. The White/Umberger/Schenn line scored.

Cooter/Read/Jake played possession hockey and did everything but score.

All three of the defense pairings supported the attack and were supported at key times by all four lines.

This is how the hockey is supposed to be played. Four lines playing 200 feet supporting the defense and limiting the shots and possession of the opposition.

Why is this so surprising? This is not how this team has played most of the season. How is this upsetting? They are clearly capable of this and yet we only see it once, maybe twice a month.

ps Rob Zepp played a great game for the limited shots he faced. As a former goalie I can tell you not seeing a lot of shots means you have to concentrate 2x harder on the puck or zone out. His ability to rebound from the slightly leaky goal he allowed in the 1st is more than commendable. He did not clench up. He did not play stiff. He actually looked better as the game progressed and the OT and the shoot out...

It certainly helped today

We'll see if the changed lines help going forward, and if it continues to work
