Reports are that he has a torn achilles....damn.
Cowboys DE Tyrone Crawford suffered a torn Achilles' on the first day of training camp and will miss the enter 2013 season.
The 81st pick in the 2012 draft, Crawford was markered in as Dallas' No. 3 end behind DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer. At 6-foot-4, 275, he was easily the Cowboys' biggest defensive end, and coming off a promising rookie year as a run stopper. As we've noted repeatedly, Dallas' run defense is shaping up as suspect on paper with one of the smallest front sevens in football. And after years of poor drafting, the Cowboys' depth is in rapid decline. The Crawford injury is a sizable blow to a team whose arrow was already pointing down.
Fordman, I don't believe it does. That's why every team tries to leave at least a couple Mil of salary cap free going into the season. This way you can sign vets as injuries occur.
Are ou guys tapped out in salary cap? I know we are pretty close. I think we have maybe $2-3M in space left. Of course that all depends on who makes the final roster. Some vets on both out teams might not make the final 53 just due to salary cap issues.
I need to get into the NFL rules. If he is injured and has to go on IR, does that give us any salary cap relief to try to sign a replacement?

Crawford being out doesnt really hurt Dallas as far as the cap goes. But from a depth along the defensive line standpoint goes, considering that the FA market is bare at the moment, it gets painful. Crawford having to rehab an injury and not being able to practice with the team until next off season could hurt his development.
Naw, this team didn't need to draft any DL?
Ratliff injured again? Check
Spencer hurt again? Check
Crawford (their biggest DE on the smallest DE 4-3 in the league) hurt and done for the season already? Check
I love it when I'm right.
