Nice to know, but probably not that much of a big deal.

Cut Austin, cut other scrubs, still have some talent left.

The real mistake was the Choko deal.

Ratliff costs them 7 million next year and won't be playing. They will restructure some contracts and cut some players so it's not like all is lost but look what happened to the Giants when they went into cap hell. You have to love when they restructure because they have to pay that bill down the line. I am just glad to see the Redskins have been fiscally responsibile.

This is a non issue. They will simply push money into the future until such time as the cap goes up high enough to swallow all the dead money. Their roster wont undergo drastic changes, but they will be locked into Romo and a few others for the next few seasons no matter what.

the bottom will fall out eventually however depth could be affected so the cowboys drafting well could be key . they drafted williams and he appears to be austin's replacement so that was a potential good pick

Article on ESPN Dallas detailing how Dallas can cut $37 million off next years cap through restructures and a couple of roster moves. Yawn at gloom and doom

Yep, Just like getting a payday loan to cover the water bill. Eventually you either need to make more money, or you will constantly be paying the loan fees. But Im sure Dallas will stay the course. :)

What are you talking about? Under Allen's watch the Redskins have been pretty fiscally responsible. The cap penalties occurred since apparently the NFL permits under-the-table agreements. Otherwise - they appear to be spending their money wisely & most likely won't go nuts when they get more cap space next offseason.

You are apparently confusing this with the Cerrato regime. Try doing a little research.

Socal... they got to believe bro. We have seen this happen with Dallas once, when Aikman finally retired, and Irvin retired, and Emmitt had to be cut.

We seen it happen IN DC with the same effect because we would have lost the cap space had we not tried to hide it in the uncapped year.

Death, taxes, Child Support and the Salary cap are just things you DO NOT FUK WIT!!! We learned our lesson, When Dallas is stuck starting the next Quincy Carter they will all wonder how that happened.

You're right Shark, we've seen it before. When yall won the division last year(while Dallas looked like a MASH unit), you kept the talk about play on the field. Now that Dallas has kicked every team in the divisions ass, including the Skin's, you need something to grasp, like our cap situation lol. Keep telling yourselves that, even after we clear enough space to be well under the cap number without having to cut a single player. Then the cap is going to spike in '15 or '16(as stated earlier, do some research), and you'll have to find something else to hang your hat on when you're out of the division race by midseason

Not sure where you looked this up, but all indications are that the cap won't go up significantly through 2015 & perhaps beyond (regardless of the fact that TV revenues will increase). Go look it up. Here is a comment from a recent USA Today article on the subject:

The cap won't spike in coming years despite the expected influx of big dollars from TV contracts in 2015.

From the Skins' perspective it doesn't really matter since they will get back a lot of cap room starting next offseason and - again - they don't employ the reckless spending methods that existed during the Cerrato regime.

I realize that it is impossible for you to comprehend things like this since apparently you are the biggest homer on the planet. Also - don't too cocky about the Boys just yet - the season is young - time will tell. Again - impossible for you to understand since in your world everything is "Cowboys - great Redskins -bad" - we get it.

This, my friends, is a perfect example of whistling past the graveyard. All is well, don't look behind the curtain........

No need to whistle. As the old saying goes....Scoreboard!....Now, all time, Winning percentage, division crowns, Super Bowls, current record, the game a couple of weeks ago, the Cowboys banner hanging here for a week. No need to whistle when theres nothing to fear

Wow - so it all simply comes down to "Skins vs Boys" for you. Pretty sad. Like I said previously I would be happy any season if the Boys swept the Skins yet the Redskins won the division. I guess I don't have tunnel vision like you. I also apparently don't live in the past like you. Who cares about championships won 15+ years ago?

The other posters were simply pointing out salary cap issues that could affect any of our teams. No need for any of us to get cocky about it - it is simply a warning to help either team. Oh well - again - if it is not "Skins vs Boys" it will go over your head. Have fun with that.

Yep.....Scoreboard this year.....then you talk history.....Fine how about this lesson.....Better hope the Cowboys never play the Skins in the playoffs....otherwise..dallas goes home....NFC championship games Skins 2 Dallas 0....and of course if we add in week 17 of last year since it was basically a playoff.....Skins 3 dallas 0...

However...as was said before...Still alot of season to go....anything can happen.....Dont count your chickens yet

Simple math and logic continue to elude the faithful I see.

Reality check. The Skins and the majority of the league infact are well below next years projected cap WITHOUT having to rework or extend OLDER players. So WHEN the cap goes up in two or three years, that means we wont be locked into a QB who will at that time be 35 years old and counting too much against the cap to cut.

Point two here, there are still eight games left and the Skins are two games back of Dallas. So I wouldnt count that Division title as solidly won just yet. We have noticed a trend of Dallas falling flat on their faces the past few seasons after all.
