I have never even heard of such a rule.

How is the players union not going bananas over this rule that punishes a team for giving players a second chance? The team already gets F&*^%& for taking the risk if they get suspended.

What is the need for a double punishment? ..Holy mother of God this is just so stupid.

Rule is in place to discourage drafting or signing troubled players
It came about from the Bengals have players in trouble all the time and giving the NFL a preverbal black eye all the time. If I remember correctly ( like they cant do that on their own) but that's another thread

I think it has been in place since the last CBA

Doubt it but hopefully it causes them to think about these types of players and the fact that so many haven't turned into anything but what they knew they were when they took the chances on them. I've never been for signing guys with issues and thinking that if they get a significant amount of funds to blow and some fame and notoriety amongst even their peers, that they will do a 180 and become an upstanding citizen and stop making poor choices. Just too hard for these guys to overcome with their character and make up

I didn't know this rule was in place but I do remember the league talking about punishing teams for players misbehavior, I remember there being talk about taking draft picks. This $250,000 fine could be much worse, unless they simply took away Jerry's 2nd rounder.

Boy that would really suck, the second round is his best round

I believe the rule was used to penalise the Steelers in 2010 when they had several players fined/suspended for breaking the NFL's personal conduct policy.

I didn't realize it had ever been enacted before. I remember Twist always talking about this rule (what happened to Twist again, banned or left?) I guess it isn't used often and not sure the transgressions were different enough from the norm to do so here, but if the Cowboys aren't going to do something themselves about these suspensions they are getting I'm glad the league is putting pressure on them. I'm tired of this stupid crap happening.

Twist was banned along with PDay, he said when he leaves he's done with the boards, I guess he's wasn't just whistling Dixie.

If he had half a brain he'd know the football season is what makes this board flow.
