Unless it's relatively cheap, A multi-year deal with Free would worry me unless structured so that we could cut him after 2 years. I'm happy with the Free of the last two years, but I'm worried about him trying to block speed rushers a couple of years from now. Personally I'd go with Parnell if it was a "multi-year" deal, but honestly as long as we sign one of the two I'm happy. We can't go into the draft with neither of them IMO
You took the word out of my mouth. Free was certainly a good player last year, but I hope he's on a team friendly contract. No need to further elaborate you pretty much said it all.Unless it's relatively cheap, A multi-year deal with Free would worry me unless structured so that we could cut him after 2 years. Yep...The deal is worth $15 million and includes $6 million in guaranteed money, according to a source
per ESPN
That's a fair contract and so now on to the other FA's
Good news. Now can draft cb peters or gordon. Gordon would gain 1400 yards. Total stud
I like it, I can't imagine we'd handcuff ourselves completely over Doug Free, so I'm confident they'll do the right thing. Also avoids us having to fill a hole in the draft or free agency. I'd be totally on board taking a RT in the mid to late rounds and hope we can groom him to take over in a year or 2 when we inevitably cut free.
I feel like chemistry is an underrated aspect of the o-line so keeping the same unit intact is huge.
