For the record the first game of the season should always be Cincinnati (preferably in Cincinnati).
I truly understand that the game can't rely on stale old traditions and opening in other places is a nice way to inspire some early enthusiasm.
I don't know for sure why baseball didn't take the opportunity of the 150th year of the Red Stockings to at least make an attempt in their brain-addled 20-somethings front office to make accommodations for that. Cincy plans to make a season-long event of it.
Of course this is the 100th year of the Black Sox 1919 team, so there's that as well.
