Countdown to draft day

Shero has the same philosophy; it just always seems to be a d-man. Which is fine with me. We seem to effortlessly develop d-man, but can't do anything with offense to save our lives. Let's just keep developing d-men for the rest of the league and turn those into Neals.

I'm still pissed about this draft because I couldn't get tickets. Apparently sinking $2000+ into this team every year isn't worth a free fucking draft ticket for day one.

The thing about the NHL and MLB is that drafting to fill holes isn't really needed. Most players don't make it for 2-3 years with the big clubs, if at all. In this case, I'm fine if they choose either a defender or forward.

saw that BlobMac special last night ... so when does the first cdn forward get drafted ... Kris Beech at 7th overall in 1999 ... sounds like that record is gonna fall

so it begs the question is this a sure sign that this is a weak draft? OR does this mean the old boys network of scouts think this is a weak draft soley because no canadian forwards are highly ranked

I'm not expert and I don't have a palantir or any other crystal ball, but I think that Beech pick is going to turn out to be a bust.

There are plenty of talented Canadians in this draft it's just that most of them play DEFENSE. Guys like Dumba & Rielly could have been forwards with their skating ability.

As for this being a weak draft it's hard to say. There probably isn't a generational talent like next year. If MacKinnon or Jones were available in this draft they would go 1st & 2nd overall. However, if your team is looking to bolster it's prospect pool on the blueline this is the draft for you. I don't think 5 years from now we'll be saying this was a weak draft class.

I haven't heard this. If he's 20 years old then he probably isn't a top 60 pick.

the counter thats floating around is that the birthdate rumour was started by a scout who is hoping Grigorenko falls to his teams pick

This Grigorenko age thing IS intriguing. You just never know w/ players. Especially foot speed. Is it possible Luke Schenn is 41 years old?

After losing longtime vets Knuble and Halpern, maybe the #Caps should try to draft Grigorenko in order to add some maturity to the roster.

Pierre picked Reinhart for the Isles at 4. I can honestly tell you Isles fans are going to the draft party pissed off as it is. If Reinhart is the pick over Murray, Dumba or one of the top forwards Garth will be able to hear the BOOS in Pittsburgh.
