Ha! I wish this was the case... turns out there's a whole lot of dwelling in the past around here. Everything from drafting a 1st round WR every year for 12 years to the Great Depression is directly Mayhew's fault according to this message board.

Worst GM EVER! (except when the new guy uses basic common sense to prove otherwise...)

Recent past had some decent 9th round CB talent taking and was going to be ALL Pro CB's according to some here...No wonder people want to forget the past so quickly and not have others dwell on it.

Typical exaggeration. Big difference about talking how a guy might develop, and propping him up as an all-pro. You've actually stumbled across a big cause of a lot of the drama around here right there. Some people just want to bitch to bitch, and when you point out that a guy was just drafted, and say "give him a chance" before talking about how much he sucks after a single season, suddenly it becomes you saying he's going to be an "All-Pro" or "Greatest Ever."

Typical refrain from the hyperbole crowd who understand neither patience nor moderation. They want everything and they want it yesterday.

Looking back on the 2011 draft is certainly not a good idea...

Forget CB...how about drafting Fairley over Robert Quinn, taken 1 pick later.

Gotta give Rollingthndr some props here. I very distinctly remember him pushing Quinn the whole time leading up to the draft.

Robert Quinn was an interesting case, he had not played football junior year due to improper benefits. North Carolina disassociated themselves from Quinn, Marvin Austin, and Greg Little. I can see why Lions had been skeptical of using a 1st rounder on him. Especcially after the last guy they drafted in the 1st after missing an entire year of football.....Mike Williams.

In a addition to that, who knows that he'd even be half the player he is now with the poor development that was taking place with the Lions?

2014 Kyle Fuller or Darqueze Dennard over Ebron?
2013 Dee Miliner over Ansah?

Both of these are too early to call.

2012 Janoris Jenkins over Reiff?

I am ok with the Reiff pick here still.

2011 Prince Amukamura over Fairley Looking back on that draft and seeing JJ watt 2 picks before Fairley is heartbreaking...especially since Titus and Mikel in there wouldve gotten it done. Looking back on drafts is not a great idea for any fan of any team.

I was pulling for and wish we had Prince.

2010 Joe Haden over Suh, Patrick Robinson over Best?

CB > DT in my book. But Suh has worked out. Hindsight anyone over Best.

2009 Malcolm Jenkins over Stafford? Vontae Davis over Pettigrew

Fuck no. Stafford. Every day. Like, Best, ANYONE over Pettigrew. I hate that guy.

2008 Aqib Talib over Gosder Cherilus

Shitty person but better athlete. Tough call. Likely scenario is the Lions would have dumped him before he got his shit together and it may have been worse under our coaching.

Rather during this draft I wish the Lions hadnt traded down and took Branden Albert with their original pick.

2007 Darelle Revis over Calvin Johnson

CJ ALL DAY EVERY DAY.
2006 Tye Hill over Ernie Sims

Well, we did get Hill later?

2005 Fabian Washington over Mike Williams

Washington would have been better than Williams.

Quick question, where are the Nevin Lawson haters? Stuck to Victor Cruz like glue all game long. But he's only 5'9'', so it shouldn't really count

Lawson certainly wasn't exposed at all while he was in there, which is a great sign.

One game. I am pretty sure they get exposed some where shortly. That is to be expected. Baby steps, Caldwell just threw out some of Mayhew's trash.

I need glimpses of developing mixed in with the bad plays that a rookie is sure to make.

About the corners, it is this board's opinion that since these young corners haven't already morphed into shutdown quality, they will always suck.

Only Slay remains. I think this battle is over.

I thought Lawson looked good too, but again it was Eli and that Ben McApoo offense so who knows. SCam should give them a true test.
