I've lived in the Seattle area since 1990, and the Mariners have done jack shit in the playoffs.

Yes, they made the playoffs, but get bounced easily.

And as my dad used to say, "What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?". The article is about a new and fun thing they are doing in spring training. Nothing to do with the team itself or its playoff ineptitude.

I like how they're doing harder work than they used to, and enjoying it.

As a teacher, that's one of the biggest challenges for me. I know that people learn more when they're having fun, but it's hard to keep the academic content high while making sure they have fun. Lots of planning and trial and error, but it's worth it.

The guys are working harder, and don't even seem to notice it because they're having a good time. That's a good sign for Servais's leadership, and I'm as cynical as anybody when it comes to this club.
