Wow, I thought the Paille hit was pretty bad and just as unacceptable.

It was unacceptable, but not comparable to that douche Cooke. Paille is not a dirty player, your boy is a repeat offender who needs his face caved in. Paille didnt leave his feet, and had the player kept his head up, that hit wouldn't have been anywhere near as bad. Yes, hockey is a fast sport and shit happens uncontrollably, but you shouldn't put yourself into vulnerable positions in the middle of the ice like that. Keep your head up.

I agree with this, Cooke obviously being a repeat offender and being in the spotlight recently with his hit on OV this past Sunday doesn't help his defense. That said, he'll probably get the same length of suspension as Paille (4 games) because Colie is a doofus.

If Cooke gets 4 games... I am def writing the league.

edit: Not that it will do anything. But this is a joke.

I never said anything about the players or their history, but the Paille hit looked a lot like the Savard hit. JMO though...

The positioning of the players, yes, but I honestly watched that hit over a few times and did not see Pailles elbow connect with his head at all, nor his shoulder. I'm really not trying to sound biased, but that looked shoulder to shoulder to me. That elbowing call was a joke. Cooke did indeed nail Savvy with a shoulder intentionally to the head.

This is always going to be a shitshow of a debate, because everything is left up to the discression of the refs and Toronto and who thinks what was intentional or not. Then there is accidental with no intent... It's just ridiculous.

Do you seriously think this was incidental. Pull off the homer glasses and see that he hit him. Was it brutal or blatant, not really but he was certainly not trying to avoid Sid.

obviously you'll think i'm just hating sid some more, but i actually do kind of see steckel as trying to avoid him.. he definitely didn't try hard to avoid him, but if you watch that clip from 10-12 seconds, it looks like steckel lowers his shoulder and twists, the way you try to avoid someone without interrupting your stride.. kind of like ducking under sid to try and get around him

either way though, i dont think there was any intent from steckel to injure crosby there

I am not saying he was trying to crush him or injure him. But he was not trying to avoid him, which would have been pretty easy to do. I liken it to a player "trying" to avoid a goalie, make it look good but dont really try to avoid it.

I don't think Paille intended to blindside him or injure him. Cooke flew in there and left his feet for cryin out loud. To compare Paille to Cooke is as laughable as it gets. I agree the hit by Paille is unacceptable, I just don't think the intent was there unlike Cooke's.

I am talking about Cooke Vs Savard. I dont know how you can see intent, it looked pretty blatant to me.

Heard on the radio that Cooke is having a phone meeting. That usually means less than 5 games. I know for sure that he won't be playing against the Kings on Thursday so no need to dress Westgarth.

Why should he try and avoid the guy turning into him. he wasn't even looking at Sid. He was looking down the ice, IN FRONT OF HIM (take not sid) and heading up ice. The view from behind the net tells all. i am not being a homer at all. I am as critical of the Caps as anyone and have been in the past. But incidental, is incidental. Crosby was an all world retard on that play (a supremely gifted, once in a generation, with the skills of a Gog one mind you) and it cost him. If you can honestly look at the cut from behind the net and find Steckel at fault at all on that hit, well, I guess there is no convincing you and we will have to agree to disagree. Steckel never hits, as well, I mean, it is David Steckel.

That would show what a joke the leagues position on player safety is. As long as they just keeping slapping the players on the wrist, expect to keep seeing scum like Cooke, Ott, and others to keep taking runs at the better players in the league. Soon the injury reports will be filled with the stars of the league.

I watched it plenty of times. If you think Steckel didnt see Sid or didnt intend to knock him down then you are a HUGE homer.

And you shouldn't LOOK BACK, see Matt Cooke coming, and turn your head back around and then skate into the boards. Tyutin should have kept the puck going. He looks.

And yes, Matt Cooke was a douche and knew exactly what he was doing, but this comment just shows bias. You shouldn't put yourself into a vulnerable position...unless it's Matt Cooke...then it's okay.

And I think he should be suspended to reign this shit in and he is a dirty player. Four or five games, whatever. But let's not ignore the fact that Tyutin looked behind him and saw 24 coming.

And please don't start with PENS FAN DEFENDS MATT COOKE. He is a POS, he is dirty, I said he should be suspended. I just find it odd that no one is pointing out that Tyutin looks behind him before he goes to play the puck.

He may have seen him peripherally. I don't know. I was not in his helmet. However, I doubt he figured Sid would turn and look behind him and skate right into his line....like a mite hockey player may do. It was a dangerous move on Sid's part. Steckel (with no history of even being a physical player) played his line and an unfortunate event happened. The onous was on Sid for not remembering the most basic things they teach you though, not on Steckel for having the genetic code to make him 6'5".

Retribution (even from Tim Wallace) was absurd for this. And yes, I do want my #1 face off man on available to me the entire third period of a 2-0 game. I don't want him to have to sit for 5 minutes because the Pens were not ballsy enough to take action (which would have been uncalled for) at the time of the incident.

If you get crushed along the boards, I see nothing wrong with that. That is part of the game. You as a player make that decision whether you want to continue to play that puck with someone coming at you... But Cooke left his feet. Case closed.

Well, you do look back in that situation. However, if it is a guy like Cooke or a guy coming very quickly, you usually turn the puck in, like you said. Still, Cooke needs to slow down and clutch the guy a bit and rub himn out on that play. NHLers should not need these on their jerseys:
