With all the money being thrown around in the last 24 hours I just wanted to see what Niner contracts you think are the best. I think our organization has done an unbelievable job evaluating talent and handing out longterm contracts to promising players. I really like what we've done with these signings:

Staley - signed through 2017 (2.8, 3.4, 5.2, 6.1, 6.9 - none of it's guaranteed)
McDonald - signed through 2016 (2.5, 5.3, 5.8, 1.8 - 3.6 guaranteed)
Boone - signed through 2015 (1.9, 1.7, 1.9 - 1M guranteed)
Lee - signed through 2018 - avg of ~3.3/yr with only 2M total guaranteed. He'll be a bargain in those later years.

These are 3 solid/probowl caliber starters in the trenches at unbelievable prices.

The way we've structured Willis too, with the big cap hit last year, was very smart as well considering none of his remaining contract is guaranteed. Gives us bargaining power in case we ever need re-structure or extend his contract. And I hate to say it but Bowman might end up clearly better in a couple years and he's at a great rate too with not much guaranteed from here on out. There's a lot to like here!

Problem is, any of those guys (especially Boone) may be knocking for a raise next season.

with the new CBA, i dont think players have as much leverage to hold out anymore. i could be wrong but i think you lose a lot more money by holding out nowadays. anyone else have some insight on this?

this makes signing smart long term contracts even more important to a team's sustained success.
