What jumps out at me is a shit load of linebackers! I would have a very hard time distinguishing between them (out of the top tier).

Maybe its a little bias, but is Jared Allen a little low (53)? I know he's getting up in age, but the guy still produces.

I also notice Aldon Smith and Mathis aren't on the list which indicates that the rankings are current. Although, in Mathis' case, if he's only suspended for 4 games, he may be worth stashing.

Not bias. Especially in a new uniform... I'm sure you'll enjoy his production, as would a fantasy owner.

Couple things stand out to me. First and foremost, no Clowney or Mack. Even the biggest skeptic of rookies should find a spot in the top 100 or so I would think.

Secondly, I see an awful lot of players that are on below average defenses who are highly ranked. Further confirming my own belief that IDP's values are about opposite from that of traditional offensive fantasy players. Great players around you doesn't necessarily help, and in fact might hurt a players value.

I agree about the rookies.

But in a strange way, the idea of having players on below average defenses makes some sense to me. Because you figure if the defense has trouble getting off of the field, then there will be plenty of opportunities to make tackles.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of tackles. I know that can separate the better LB's from the rest, but tackles can also be a fickle. Way too many half-tackles, pile ups, etc. I think it would be better off to omit them, and just go on turnovers, deflections, and sacks. I suppose a "solo" tackle can be separated and put in, but I get real skeptical on box scores and finger tackles because he was in the scrum.

I realize this would limit the use of the DT and some LB value, but it just seems like it would work better, and give the true elite defenders the edge.

It's true, the LB position racks up a ton of points. But there are only a handful of defensive lineman (either DT or DE) that can put up LB-type fantasy numbers. And Watt led the league in 2012 in fantasy points.

In many IDP leagues, there may be only 3 IDP positions. 1 DL (either DT or DE), 1 LB and 1 DB (either S or CB). Since LB are plentiful and there is a lot of parity, the standout DL is the premium player to get. And in this regard, Watt is the best available.

Hope that helps.

Below average offense is a key as well. For that reason I think Kiko Alonso should be swapped with Johnson at #7.

#81 Sean Weatherspoon tore his Achilles and is done for 2014.

Colts DE Moala (unranked above) tore his ACL & is also done.
