I don't believe that touching the conference trophies malarkey anymore go at er boys

I never have. If I remember correctly, when it was started in the 90s it was never intended to be superstitious. It was the captain (Yzerman or Lemieux I believe) making the statement that it wasn't the trophy they wanted so they wren't interested in celebrating anything yet. Somehow it evolved from that into a superstition. Because of that, now captains tend to touch it to make a different statement, to show that they are confident in their team and not worried about a superstition.

Well I'll be damned. Down 3-2 it was the "same old Caps" feeling for sure, even though they finally beat the Pens and escaped the 2nd round. Sorry the game dissolved into a dump and chase/clock watch the entire 3rd period but blame the Bolts for that, they just didn't show up.

Seems pretty clear the neutral fans are rooting for Ovi like football fans rooted for John Elway to finally win a ring.
