weird, that the 2 sports with little white balls are also the two that put everyone to sleep when they try to pretend its exciting

sure... but thats part of their charm... if you need a good nap... put on a game, or a tournament...

My grandpa was a "big" Mets fan, he would fall asleep during the first inning and magically wake up in the 9th to watch his team win( usually lose)...

Assuming sport #2 is PGA?? Agreed. MLB, as long as you go into understanding that you get a little show and a nap...it's like a double feature, all good

took the kids over Memorial weekend, walked around the field for season ticker holder day (in-laws), finished my $20 tallboy in the 3rd inning, kids were ready to leave in the 4th, that's about enough baseball for me until next season

Some people can’t appreciate the hand-eye coordination it takes to play the game of baseball. This sport was being played in the 1800’s. It’s definitely different if you played it. I can’t imagine trying to hit a 102 mph fastball. A lot of strategy in the game, not even game to game but every single pitch. Watching it, a different story LOL

I can see how people think golf is boring to watch, I don’t enjoy watching it that much anymore. Fun to play but extremely frustrating

Same with my grandpa and now it’s my dad. He will doze and miss the grand slam to win the game.

I will say this if we find out a sport is rigged…it’s NBA

I can’t watch hockey on TV so I don’t try but if you go to a game it’s pretty exciting and I dont like hockey at all

I will put it this way about the big four. Five because I am from the south.

Baseball favorite sport but not that good at it. I remember at a softball tournament, when I hadn't faced a real pitcher in a few years, I stepped in against someone throwing around 80. I couldn't even pick the ball up until it was on top of me.

Racing. being from the south and working in the auto industry it is something I was brought up watching.

Football was always my number three sport to watch. Playing I was an undersized LB that liked to line up as a DE. That didn't work to well for me.

Hockey. Yes it is number 4 as far as watching. My love was this was the sport I was good at. I had speed as a kid playing in an area that was not a big hockey area.

Basketball. No mather where I shoot the ball from it is going to hit the back of the rim and bounce back like i was shot out of a cannon. Unless it was the shot to pick teams from the top of the arch, I hit that one everytime for some reason. Jordan and ESPN ruined the game to me. They just had perfect timing when Jordan started out and everyone having ESPN Sportscenter everynight. The highlights had to be cut down to a few seconds for each game, so they showed Jordan dunking every night. Kids wanted to be Jordan and stopped shooting the 18 foot jumper. Curry and a few others do bring that jump shot back, but I stopped watching if it is not UVA 30 years ago.

Well I can't skate for shit, so never played hockey, can't stand it on my TV, love it in person, but F paying NHL ticket prices- I go minor leagues the rare time I go.

Love golf, I'm better than the level of 'I suck' but not by a lot. I'd rather watch hockey on TV then watch golf in any fashion.
All the other 'major' sports, I was pretty decent at, at yes, every one funner to play than watch...except football, which while extremely fun to play, also really painful

Never seen a live hockey game, not that I've specifically avoided it, but growing up and living in Florida it's not something that many kids play at all. Plus we can play all of the other sports year round here so hockey was just not even on my radar until I got older and here in Florida we have so many sports teams that nobody ever talks about hockey. Even on local sports radio now, the Lightning are going for a three-peat and nobody here cares. You are 100 times more likely to hear about what Tom Brady ate for breakfast than the Stanley Cup finals. We rotated between wiffleball, football, Little League baseball, and basketball year round in our neighborhood when we were kids. I played baseball and golf in high school and I've always been pretty good at any sport involving hand eye coordination. I have always been a baseball history fanatic, but I've never really had a team I was a die hard fan of, so when the guys I grew up rooting for retired (Greg Maddux, Tony Gwynn, Mark McGwire) I kind of stopped watching the game, although I still love going live. You miss so much on TV like the way the entire field moves when there's a runner on first and a somebody hits a double in the gap to try and cut off that runner at home. With that being said though, the game they play now is not the game I love. All the strikeouts and everybody swinging for the fence just drives me absolutely crazy. Starting pitchers that did a "good job" because they got through 5 or 6 innings, it's just ridiculous now. I still love college baseball because in college you always have to root for a team because you know that you aren't going to see that player more than 4 years no matter what. Football has of course become my favorite because of fantasy and I love college football even though my Hurricanes have been in a 21 year National Title draught. I cared about basketball for awhile, but I have just completely lost interest in the NBA at this point although I still enjoy watching March Madness. For me it would be NFL > college football > college baseball > golf > MLB > college basketball > NHL > NBA.

Pitching is the biggest difference from the pastime and today's game but I get it. Guys throw so hard these days, it's rare to find a guy out of the BP that doesn't throw 95+ now. Pitchers back in the day used to go 9 innings with ease but they weren't facing the talent they did today, at least overall. A lot more competition just like in every sport. Now they are trying to save a pitchers' arm, it is ridiculous they are using load management. I do believe this is the one sport where I think great players in any era would succeed even in today's game. It's my favorite sport bc like you I played baseball growing up, it's really all I did until about 5th grade then I picked up basketball as well.

I will say this about MLB, when there is a 1 day playoff, those games have more appeal to me. Win-or-go-home types.

Since i am sharing, i dont understand why the NFL doesnt borrow from the NHL or MLB when it comes to QB?

If pitcher doesnt have it, he gets yanked. If a goalie doesnt have it, he gets pulled. Yet if a QB is having a bad first quarter... he gets to make things worse by staying in most of the game.

There's a very simple way to greatly increase casual in MLB, and it has nothing to do with eliminating the shift or universal DH.

Simply institute a rule where when a manager makes a pitching change, that pitcher must face a minimum of 3 batters or finish the inning. The biggest frustration I always had watching the games is seeing a pitching change to get a lefty/lefty matchup, and then another one on the next batter..it's a 15-20 minute, or longer, scenario to watch 2 batters cycle through. And if a Lefty specialist can't get a RH batter out, he has no business in the MLB to begin with
