Was just watching some game highlights, and noticed on one of the early screens to Hunter that Anthony Davis was like 8 yards downfield. Really luck that didn't get called. Not really sure how the officials missed it.

Was he eligible, perhaps?

Morgan was wide open on the TD. It was pretty much a blown coverage for how bad Asaunte Samuel played that one. That may have been the easiest pass Alex Smith had all year. But it was good recognition to anticipate where the weakness was in the safety blitz and hit it. There's a really cool snapshot of this play and some of the other key plays in an article posted somewhere on here this morning.

We haven't had that type of play in a long time. Gore and Davis' effort to get the ball across the line on those plays were incredible. They are both awesome near the goal line in getting the ball over.

I pretty much felt the game was done when the fumble happened right before half and they punched it in. The game was a lot closer than the score at that time, but I didn't think we had enough firepower to light up their pass defense. This is a huge reference win for the offense after struggling so hard with that team for so many years.

When that happened I had a false premonition of Clyde and Crimson going at it on whether that fumble was what lost us the game. Crimson, of course, pointed out that there was still another half to go and that the rest of the team wasn't performing. And Clyde, well, you know what he'd say. I also had a false premonition on how the articles and posts would say how Alex came up short again, couldn't win the close games if the Eagles had gotten the field goal at the end. It would have felt a little like the New Orleans game, last years Philadelphia game, and Houston's game in 2009. I am proud to say after the fumble, it didn't feel like any of those games. I suppose it felt like the Falcons did last year (except with no big comeback/collapse).

That Falcons game was probably the worst loss of the season. To pretty much have the game winning Interception turn into new life for the Falcons. I hope I don't have to go through that for another 10 years.

Thanks to Justin Smith, we were saved from watching the Saints game from a year ago unfold again.

Perhaps, they missed Davis the same way you missed Goodwin?

All kidding aside, I reviewed Davis' performance and I have to wholly disagree with your assessment of his performance (he wasn't abused all day long as you suggested). Furthermore, by contrast, his performance against the run was nothing short of spectacular.

Also, I figured you were joking with this post and offered a candid response previously. So, in the event you were not joking, lineman are allowed downfield on any pass play in which the ball is caught behind the LOS.

Hope that helps. (Just doing my part to be informative and constructive) ;)

I haven't rewatched the game, but I believe PFF gave Davis one of the worst OL grades of the week. He is their 60th rated OT this season I believe.

I suggest you compare notes with ProFootballFocus. They rewatch all the games, and not just rewatch, but take the time to study. They make a living studying film. They seem to think Davis has been remarkably poor this season.

In the meantime, maybe you can come on down off your high horse.

No high horse here, imac, I don't have time for that bs. I operate with both feet on the ground. Just let me know when you study the game, I look forward to comparing notes.

No high horse my ass. I'm telling you where you can go and see what people who are employed to study the game saw.

And I watched the game once. I saw Davis get beat up by Babin. Unless your standards are so low for him now that getting in the way once in awhile qualifies as good play, then you can't think he played anything better than poorly.
