You dont know if the others would of signed here. You dont know what rookie QB's would be there at #11. If all the Fa QB's said no to us and Pickett and Willis are gone by #11 what would your plan be?
i dont have to know anyone of them would have gotten the same result

corral , picket howell or ridder even strong

He is better than any option that we had in FA or in the draft.
No move at all at that moment was better than SETTLING for Wince, his ridiculous cost and cap hit. Admit it they panicked because they didn't have the heart to compete for real talent or barring that, their mono-focal view on drafts. Last year all of this could have been rendered moot had they moved to get their QB, now not only are they still in need of a QB, but they are also using draft capital to have this seat filler (Wince) and the lesser ability to further upgrade weaker positions.

Here's the scam...

"Hey everyone, look at what we've done!!!" (and not what we've failed to do in order to have to do this ridiculous thing!)

Don't fall for it, man!

You have a point in Taylor. Their running game was great. If you have a great running game and you are scoring Td's thru the run, then your QB stats will suffer. You are way to into the stats. Any QB numbers would suffer with what Taylor did last year for the Colts. The guy has 18Td's. That is insane for a RB.

We have talented enough WR's and backs to cause trouble right now. gibson/Jd is a great rb duo IMO. If Samuel and Brown stay healthy that is enough, take pressure away from tmac. If we go WR at #11 then we would really have enough weapons to succeed. Thomas is a huge ? going into the season, but I like what I saw from bates.

The talent on paper is there.
C'mon man!!

A competent QBs numbers improve when you have a potent run game. They throw for a higher completion percentage, more TDs, and fewer interceptions. Being a Washington fan/follower/supporter how is it possible that you don't know this? Every SB won by this organization was on the back of a brilliant run game and competent QBs. Every SB lost was because the run game was stifled and a mere competent QB wasn't able to overcome that setback. You have to know this!!

Of course, the game is far different than it was back then, and it's a passing league requiring more than mere competence at the position. We don't have that in Wince, and you, somewhere deep down inside of yourself, know it!

I do admire how easily you disregard recent and historical norms with regard to this team but at some point, even the most ardently loyal, albeit, battered and abused fan realize that blind hope is not good for them!

There was no way in hell they were rolling out TH to be the starter in Week 1.

If your RB has 18Td's then your QB TD totals will be lower compared to other QB's in the league. Its just simple math. Sure a great running game helps, but I talking stat wise.

Did you miss the "at that moment" part? They panicked, that's obvious and if you don't see that Bajeebus help you!

That is not what you said!! You talked about stats and not about one specific thing. Here's what you wrote...

QBs stats aren't limited to TDs. I won't berate the point, but please take a little more time and write what you really want others to read.

Must be coaching then because nothing has really materialized since RR showed up. Almost makes you miss Gruden. Notice I said almost!

They were aggressive b/c they knew they weren't going to land any FA QB's. Plus, they might know that Pickett or Willis won't fall to them at #11 or they just dont like those guys.

I knew more than a year ago that this class was weak and they're the professionals!! Had they made a move last year to get their QB in a much richer class, right now they would have no Wince, saved 28M on the cap had almost all of their draft this year and would have a QB entering his second season a bit more experienced. I had it figured out and I can't expressed this enough...THEY ARE THE PROFESSIONALS!!

Good for you. I like Jones but was against giving up a first to get Fields.

That doesn't make any sense. You mean to tell me Mariotta would not have signed her for a fraction of the cash we are paying Wentz? Mariotta is making 9 million a year to start it appears. Bridgewater is making 10 million as a back up.
You can't say we were NOT going to land any FA QBs. Nobody knows that. Looking back, I wish they would have signed Bridgewater.

Bridgewater and Mariotta were NOT good options but they could have been a cheaper "bridge" QB for a rookie that we drafted. Dean said that we could NOT have gotten a FA QB.
We would have saved money and still kept our 3rd rounder.

To what end? If they save the money spent on Wentz what do they do with it that will will them a Super Bowl?

Is Wentz a bridge QB? For who? Who replaces Wentz and makes the team a SB winner? There are a lot of assumptions being made that none of us know whether they are true or not.

Lets say they sign Mariota or Bridgewater and save $19 million this year. How do you get to the Super Bowl from there?

exactly no one knows where a FA QB is will land. So, if we struck out on those guys we mentioned (lesser QB's than what we have now). Plus lost out on Wentz, what would we have done? Rely on the draft? We paid more money, but we got a better QB with better upside.

wince is 30 yrs old , he doesnt have upside . he is what he is now , upside ? laughable fact is we wouldnt have struck out on all of them and only the panic stricken homer fan would think that . we traded for a bust qb who gagged vs the jags with the season on the line
