Think back when Philly drafted Hurts. Every Philly fan was pissed. So, what does that tell you? It was the year after they gave Wentz that huge contract and he got hurt. I think its going to work b/c he is better than a hurt Smith, Haskins, Allen, Fitz, and TH.
Philly fans are easily irritated. That much I get.

Philly fans didn't trade Wentz, the front office did.

I agree that Wentz is better than Smith, Haskins and the rest of the clowns you mentioned. That doesn't mean he will be a good fit or is our long term solution. We shouldn't be looking for someone who can simply check the "I'm better than TH and Haskins" box. We for once need a franchise QB who can lead us. Wentz is a bandaid on an amputation. I will give you he is better, but the only standard here can't be "he is better than what we have had". What we have had is nothing short of a disaster brought on by incompetence.

If Wentz was such a great, potential franchise QB, teams would have been banging down the door to get him. I would bet the farm that the Colts only received one call...the Washington Commanders.

My word, they were even considering asking Andrew Luck to come out of retirement. We literally might have the worst front office in the NFL. IF you are content with 7-9 wins a year, Wentz is probably your guy...if he can stay healthy.

I'll take what's behind choice #2, please!
Right......
I think Rivera is simply doing enough to show the fans and the Snyders that he is making an effort. Nothing more...nothing less.

The free agent strategy this offseason has been a disaster. We are literally asleep at the wheel. If the strategy is to hold off on signing impactful players so we can get a 2023 3rd round pick, these stooges should be fired now.

I began a thread asking for his firing after his first year here because I saw the direction (Carolina north) and futility waiting for the trainwreck but was roundly told that it was too early, so I suppose we'll have to wait for this to play out unnecessarily. Oh well!

After the first pathetic free-agent offseason debacle, I knew it was a mistake. I can't really name one coach who has successfully navigated the waters as coach and GM. Holmgreen, Kelly, Shanahan, Sabab, Davis, etc. Maybe Pete Carroll?

It's a mistake and we still did it. We will never learn I am afraid. If Rivera has a losing season, which I believe he will, he has to go before he does more damage. I then want to see Tonya (or Dan behind the curtain) hire a young GM and literally give him the keys to the car. Let the GM bring in his staff and let the GM hire the freaking coach. This coach centric garbage is a joke.

I would love a trade down as well. Hamilton would be fantastic but I doubt he is there. I do hope that there is a run on QBs and we can then take the best offer from a team that is in love with a QB.

Our team is bad. The numbers don't lie. As proven, we were 23rd in offense and 25th in defense. Not sure how you read that but to me, we are bad. Yes, we did have injuries. However, so did other teams. Our offense was hit very hard obviously (Rouiller, Thomas, Samuel, McKissic). However, we had those same players minus Samuel in 2020, and still had a terrible offense.

I would trade down as my 1st choice. If we cannot, you take the BPA at a position of need. In order, positions of need to me are:
MLB
WR
OL (Guard)
CB
Btw, welcome back brother!

I heard there was interest from other teams in Wentz. If Wentz did what he did last year and gets us in the playoffs, he will be the long-term answer. I think we can win 9 or 10 games this year with the talent we have and out schedule.

Isn't the goal every year to win the SB? Do you honestly believe that a Carson Wince, as the long term answer can win a SB? How about getting there,? perhaps a deep run in the playoff,? maybe even at least one win in the playoffs,? making the playoffs,?

The price paid for potential rewards is just way too rich for my taste and really doesn’t make organizational sense .

If you give up resources like that with no expectation of reaching and winning a super bowl then it’s poor management

I highly doubt that unless it was maybe the Texans.

I think you are only looking at his TDs and INTs and imagining what those numbers would look like on our team. It's not apples to apples. Wentz had a much better running game. In fact, he had the best RB in the league and the 2nd best rushing attack in the entire league helping him out. That being said, his completion % was awful and it's plagued him his entire career. He should be hitting a high % of passes via play-action with safeties crowding the box to stop Taylor. He obviously didn't do that as you can see.

Wentz still only led the Colts to the #26 passing offense in the league. We were 21st if that tells you anything. If he was a franchise QB and elite, they would be been much better in the passing attack. Even if they rely on the ground game, a 62% completion rate is unacceptable. Only 5 starting QBs in the league were worse in that department. Keep in mind that Heincke and Wentz roughly through for the same amount of yardage in 2021.

Again, why do you think Wentz will be the long-term answer here where he wasn't in Philly and Indy? You can say it was the Philly fans or the Colts owner, but that doesn't make sense. I think you keep thinking that he will duplicate what he did in 2021 and that is a stretch. He doesn't have the offensive playcalling talent that he had in Philly/Indy and he doesn't have the elite running game he did in Indy.

Reich and Pederson are miles ahead of Scott Turner. Turner has literally proven nothing in the league. Both Reich and Pederson are great play-callers. I think we both agree on that correct? In fact, Reich has led the Colts to a top 10 offense practically every year since 2018. He only had Wentz 1 year.

Smith, Haskins, and Allen led us to the playoffs in 2020. That doesn't mean any of them were even close to being a long-term answer. You also keep referring to talent? What offensive talent do we really have outside of McLaurin and Gibson? We have no clue what Samuel will do, nor do we know how effective Thomas will be when he returns 6 games into the season. We have talked about how McKissic is a 3rd down back only and how Sims/Brown are not #2 material. You have to look at the numbers.
I literally don't know how anybody can say we have a "talented" offensive roster. The Rams, Cowboys, and Bengals have "talented" offensive rosters. We do not. I would also not put much stock into the schedule. We simply have no idea how those teams will play at the start of the season. This isn't college football where you can pencil in wins from the get go. The NFL is a different animal.

I am not sure why anyone would want Wentz to be our long-term answer. He is largely considered a bust in the NFL and his career statistics are mediocre at best. Shouldn't we be aiming higher than a 30-year-old QB on his 3rd team?

Drafting a high upside wb who may not wuite be ready is the way to go then.

First of all, it puts some pressure on Wentz.

Second of all it adds some stability to the position.

I dont see why the redskins couldnt trade back, get a few picks, then sign a high upside qb to groom behind wentz and TH.

He is better than any option that we had in FA or in the draft.

You have a point in Taylor. Their running game was great. If you have a great running game and you are scoring Td's thru the run, then your QB stats will suffer. You are way to into the stats. Any QB numbers would suffer with what Taylor did last year for the Colts. The guy has 18Td's. That is insane for a RB.

We have talented enough WR's and backs to cause trouble right now. gibson/Jd is a great rb duo IMO. If Samuel and Brown stay healthy that is enough, take pressure away from tmac. If we go WR at #11 then we would really have enough weapons to succeed. Thomas is a huge ? going into the season, but I like what I saw from bates.

The talent on paper is there.

You dont know if the others would of signed here. You dont know what rookie QB's would be there at #11. If all the Fa QB's said no to us and Pickett and Willis are gone by #11 what would your plan be?
