dean the bullets had the same players when they changed to wizards . i totally rejected them

not everyone lives in the local area (DMV)

not everyone is going to let the powers that be make choices and we simply live with them

i live in the mid west now . i have no ties to the dmv . the football team was mostly about memories and nostalgia not what the product has been about and their was a passion about it , the name , .

the commanders havent earned that , the lied about the name change in 2 different ways , 1) he would never do it 2) when he did it they would take fan input . neither happened

the owner has taken the best team in the nfl and ruined it . he is a crook , a sex abuser , a liar and that has to be addressed before a lot of people who loved the redskins will accept the new team

and the next Neanderthal that says " winning will fix this " is just a fool . it isnt just about winning for some , its about being proud of what type of organization we have and what it stands for

and stupid catch phrases like "take command " and commandalorian sound forced

i am willing to see what happens . but my passion has to be earned

Having lived in the DMV up until 18, I can honestly say I was brought up being a fan of the only local teams as I had no choice, (Redskins, Bullets, Caps, O's, Terps BB & FB) that is what it is and I will NEVER jump ship even though the years have been brutal since our last SB win in '91. We did get a Natty out of Maryland 2002 and Gary Williams and a cup from the Caps. I pay NO respect to any bandwagon or team jumper fan. I am loyal to my teams regardless of how putrid they have been, period!

Not how I see it Chief. Same team, new name. Players change every year, so do coaches. Most owners do not and in this case, ours still remains.
Again, I focus on wins. You seem focused on corruption, law breaking, bankrupt, stories, lies, bad trades, allegations, deceit, lies or whatever. You just stay focused on that I mean, its not like it has not existed since Snyder got here. But hey, stay focused on it.

I have been a fan of this team for almost 60 years. In the 60s this team was adored even though they weren't very good. The next two decades brought Allen and Gibbs and winning football. The 90s not so much. There is a history, taking that history away doesn't feel good. You liked team, you liked the logo.

Then Snyder came along. To say we are focused on what he has done is partially right. He is a turd of human being. On top of that he has given us 20+ years of bad football, bad management, bad people. Why wouldn't you despise that? It doesn't mean I have to like the name, the uniform and especially the owner. But I will continue to root for them because that is what I have done for so long.

What I do not understand is why people come on here and tell others they are rooting the right way or the wrong. You root how you feel. It isn't about how dad roots or how skinz roots. That is an individual choice. What difference does it make where you live, you root for who you want to root for how you want to root for them.

There is no doubt that Snyder has made a laughing stock of this organization.

Let me tell you all about my experience. Growing up we absolutely hated the former name of this team. Now don't take that lightly, because the contradiction was that we were also taught NOT to hate. We supported the team because it was/is our hometown team and we were taught that you can tell a lot about a person who refuses to support and defend their home and by extension hometown.

Why do I tell you this? Well, times have changed, and so have perspectives and/or attitudes, but despite it all, I still believe that we can disagree without being disrespectful of one another's POV, especially when the subject of that point of view owns itself to subject matter that comes from intra-personal places. . I'm sure that there are folks here who will look at my story and not only point out the contradictions, time-worn, out-of-date value(s), and even those things best described as the ranting of an old assed man from their perspective. Opinions and disagreements on the day-to-day coming and goings-on with this team are one thing, that's what the board is for, but we have to take note of and try to appreciate that we all don't function in the same manner or time frame as others when the issue is one as personal as this historic name change. All I ask is some level of respectfulness as our fellow posters, in their own time, and manner, work their way through this.

We can all take a lesson from our fellow poster @Breed, who worked his way through it all, didn't keep it to himself, then shared his experience despite possible blow-back from those, like him, who vowed never to support the team again. I applaud the brother for showing us all how fucking crazy we all are to love this team. Equally important, I applaud the board for not attacking his process and ultimate decision.

Im fine with the helmet. Its the same players on the Commanders as the Football team so if you routed for the team last year why wouldn't you route for them this year?

Of course if the team wins more fans will come. This is true for any sports franchise.

I saw RR wearing that camo hat with the NEW colors and explaining all the jerseys (at least in OTAs) have Commanders where the name would go and a small tag on the chest with the players names because it is like a military name tag. WTF?!?! They are a football team, not part of the military and as someone who is in the military I am not for the idea of them thinking they are some quasi military branch. Be a freaking football team. Too much RR in this rebrand.

Synder did want to change the team name, he was forced to by many parties. IF you recall when this was first brought up his comment was "Absolutely Not"
