with all the dumb and stupid things the coaching staff does,he can make the case for firing them all look easy.
i agree

Pride probably.
Even Bobby bowden argued calls in his last year of coaching. It's a coach thing. He was retiring but still yelling at refs.
Same with Jim boeheim.
Bowden and boeheim had clearly checked out but that doesn't mean they don't have pride and are somewhat arrogant. That is a bad example Dean.
Any coach, any sport would argue with a ref on what they perceive to be a bad call. Checking out has nothing to do with that.
I don't think you read my post at all.checking out means not caring. If he doesnt care, why argue calls? not giving RR a pass at all. He was awful yesterday
you have to count it as a 3rd because he might not sign an extensioni would take a 2nd for him but that's if he signs the ext. what if the ext is a low-ball offer then we end up with a 3rd.

if i am any team i am not giving up a 3rd for a 9 game rental . (or a 2nd )right. I hope we get a 2nd for him.

i would say yes even though i dont like weakening a strength . but this is about a transition yr and moving forward and needing draft picks is importantdo you take that deal? getting a 3rd goes to 2nd if he resigns?
He is worth a 2nd at least, no doubt.I agree with this, and would add, "if I'm the Commanders I'm not giving him away for a third." The Commanders will get a third for him as a comp pick.
Like I said previously, the Commanders can suck with our without Sweat. Might as well suck with him unless the Commanders get a second rounder. No reason to suck AND give players away for pennies on the dollar.
That would be a smart approach..yes.I would argue that no team is a lay up for the Commadners.
I would also add that if I were the GM of the Commanders, I wouldnt settle for a pick 15 higher than a comp pick I would get in holding on to Sweat/Young.
I'd bank on the idea that whichever team was hoping to trade and sign Sweat/Young must have a pass rush that is lacking enough to seek outside help, and ramp up the pressure on that GM: "Look Atlanta, the NFC South is not very good, and you're at 4-4. You have no pass rush, but could make the playoffs. If you make the playoffs, you'll get rolled by anybody with a decent oline, which will most likely be all the playoff teams, especially because you don't have any pass rush. CY/MS could be yours for a second and a fourth, or you could lose draft position by sneaking into the playoffs and thereby missing out on the blue chip DE's / OLB's for a shot at being one-and-done inthe playoffs this year. Your choice."
That would be a smart approach..yes.
We don't have a smart front office though.
I would hold out for a bare minimum of a 2nd rounder. Again, who is driving the trade negociations: Rivera or harris?
That is what I want to know. It makes no sense for a coach who is on life support to start trading away players. That is why I am beginning to think that Harris might be telling him to start selling and to get what he can.
I have no clue what is going on anymore. If we are going to have a fire sale, why not can Rivera as well?
That is what bothers me.I agree, we dont know who is calling the shots now as far as the trades. Harris or RR
yes but its a big blow to their d line
pretty good chance we lose young and sweat season,s end .may as well get something for them if they are gonna leave anyway.i would say yes even though i dont like weakening a strength . but this is about a transition yr and moving forward and needing draft picks is important
Yes losing Grady is a big loss to their line. So I am not sure how adding a DE helps the hole they now have at DT. Had tou said Payne, then you would have a point.
they need pass rushing help, regardless. Hopefully they up their offer
You made an important point regarding trading for a 3rd round pick instead of getting a supplemental pick. I don't see any chance of higher than a 2nd pick.He is worth a 2nd at least, no doubt.
I suppose one thing to add is that a traded 3rd rounder is probably 15 or 20 spots higher in the 3rd round than a comp pick right?
A trade would also in theory weaken the team and equate to a higher draft pick.
I still think our front office has a crappy reputation and the offers will not be fair. Teams know that Rivera is not the brightest GM and will look to dupe him. The Trent williams and Wentz trades were 2 of the worst trades I have seen go down in the nfl honestly.
If our players get traded, I think it will be at the last minute when a team makes a more reasonable offer. Just my opinion.
We could walk out of this with nothing happening. I think it depends on if Rivera is ordered to make the trades.
We are 3-5 and just put up a lot of points on a top 3 nfl team.
