Division, super bowl. It's been won with less. Just need to get hot at the right time. What a shitshow you've had at QB, a low-end stable starter is a massive upgrade.
i dont think tannehill is any different then brisset . cant argue the past shitshow at qb

another poster thinking, we are a QB away.

Mahomes, Rodgers, Burrow, Allen, and probably a couple of others…we would be Super Bowl contenders…wait…we have RR so probably no better than we are right now because the coach sucks. Kidding…but RR does suck.

And they are wrong. Why do posters who agree with your agenda appear to be experts or sources of truth?

We are all rooting for Howell, but the bottom line is that our entire division, minus WSH, won a playoff game last year. Both DAL and NYG improved while PHILLY got younger. They will have an adjustment period with losing so much on defense and their 2 coordinators. We are behind the rest of the NFC East. The offensive line is a massive question mark for us. We simply have no clue what EB will do. There is a reason why the pundits have us winning 6 games. You ignored common sense last year and were completely off with your 11 game prediction. The media had 7.5 games. They were right and you were wrong Dean.

But by all means, continue the propaganda machine Dean. We literally have a coach who has 3 winning seasons out of 12. A fact you have never admitted to or explained. Like I have said, you literally don't watch the games or understand the NFL.

No doubt RR has issues, but the point is better QB play we would be a playoff team or maybe more.

Wentz should never have been on the team. Rivera brought him here and needlessly gave up a 3rd round pick.

Also, Rivera has never had QB success outside of Newton in 12 years. Rivera fell apart at the end of the season and didn't even know we were being eliminated from the playoffs.

Dan leaving will be amazing..but Rivera leaving will be sweet as well and signal that we will not tolerate mediocrity.

I frequently disagree with Dean but I agree we are a QB away.

It is very questionable if Dallas, Philly, or NY got better.

Couple of things to unpack here.

I would say we are a QB, coach, and OLine away. I will explain below.

OLine

One source has us as the 30th ranked OLine going in to 2023.

Walter gave us 3 out of 5 stars.

Did we get that much better? Stealing what Skinsdad said a few days ago, I find it spot on.
Nick Gates - Gates came over from the Giants in free agency and is projected to be the Commanders starting center after long-time starter Chase Roullier was released this offseason.

There are times when Gates struggles with the bull-rush, but he has good overall hand placement, is sound in the run game and seemed to do a nice job setting the protections when he played center. He’s a downgrade to a healthy Roullier,, we did draft stromberg

Andrew Wylie
- The former starting right tackle for the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs joined Washington this spring as a priority free agent signing. He started all 17 regular season games in 2022 but was second in the NFL in blown blocks (45) and tied for third in sacks allowed (11).

Some blame the blown blocks and sacks on quarterback Patrick Mahomes holding the ball too long and “improvising” in the pocket. Regardless, he’ll need to clean that up here in Washington,, didnt address this i the draft either

Our new OLinemen graded out at 60.3 for Gates and 63.0 for Wylie. If Wylie was that average in KC with Reid and Mahomes, I am afraid he will be worse in WSH. Speaking of LG, we have more of a question on our hands:

Saddiq Charles = 43.6 grade
Chris Paul = 55.6 (limited action
Braeden Daniels = rookie

None of these options give me confidence and it should be our weak link. Rivera should have signed a free agent to man the position but did not.
We might be taking a step back for LG. If we are talking about coaching them up, we don't even have an Offensive Line coach at this point per our own team website:

LT with Leno is getting a little older but is effective. He is our most talented OLinemen I feel.

RG is a crap shoot as we have no idea how Cosmi will look at Guard. Hopefully, it works out. Bottom line, we do NOT have a strong OLine going into the season and Rivera neglected it as usual. This is NOT the OLine we need to make Howell successful.

I will address coaching and QB in the next response.

With respect to coaching and QB:

Coaching:

Is Rivera really the answer here? We know the facts:

3 winning seasons in 12 years
No winning seasons in past 5 years as a coach
3-5 playoff record

His in-game management, personal decisions, and general confusion (not knowing we were getting eliminated) were unacceptable.

He comes in #25 for the first coach ranking article I could find.

QB

If we are a QB away, we have gone about a strange way of addressing it.

2021: Ryan Fitzpatrick
2022: Carson Wentz
2023: Sam Howell

2 of those 3 are out of the league. Howell could not even beat out TH until the last game of the season and remained 3rd on the depth chart most of his rookie year. He was a 5th round pick after regressing his SR year at UNC. Is Howell really the answer? Some pundits, even you, have claimed Brissett could beat him out. If QB was the last piece per se, why not sign Derek Carr or trade up and secure a top QB in the past 3 years?

Either we are a QB away and our current front office should be fired immediately for not securing that QB OR we are not a QB away.

NFC East

I believe every NFC East team had a better offseason and either stayed right where they are (playoff-winning team) or improved.

Giants = #8 (solid draft and addressed their offense with skill players for Jones)
Eagles = #9 (had one of the best drafts in 2023 and found depth in FA)
Cowboys = #20 (had poor draft but upgraded at WR and CB)
Commanders = #27

While the other three teams in the division maintained or upgraded their 2022 playoff rosters well, the Commanders paled in comparison in trying to play catchup. They're trusting a lot in Howell behind a new-look offensive line, hoping that new coordinator Eric Bieniemy, their best addition can make a huge difference. The defense is set up for more disappointment despite the talent up front.

Draftwise, we were behind the NYG and Philly. I believe we had a better draft than DAL.

All in all, I believe every NFC East team had a better offseason than we did and all 3 should stay in front of us. I believe the NYG got better all around, Philly got younger on D and added depth on the offense, and DAL got 2 good playmakers and stayed the same more or less.

As shown, we obviously need a coach, and OLine, along with QB to compete as people are saying. We play in the toughest division in football where 3 of the 4 teams won a playoff game last year and 1 team went to the SB. I don't care what Dean says, I just proved we aren't a QB away and the experts and major sports outlets agree.
