The other thing to keep in mind is that Gio hasn't exactly been the most durable guy - 64 games is the most number of games he has played in the last four seasons*

* - includes the lockout season where he did play 47 of 48 games.
Interesting. Didn't realize that.

Having said that, he goes to market barring getting hurt bad again (which in his UFA year you can probably guess how the hockey gods will play this one) he's getting at least $9 mil.

I like 'Big Rig', needs to work on his skating, but has a pretty good set of mitts.

The Flames spent the draft weekend trying to trade for a goalie but a team source confirmed Monday they’ve also kept the lines open on Ramo. The concern for Calgary is the Flames have to be careful moving forward who they’re doling out long-term contracts to as they’ve got a young, emerging team withthat players are going to need to be re-upped over the next few seasons. General manager Brad Treliving is trying to be careful in how he manages his salary cap.

Meanwhile, other teams have also reached out to Ramo’s camp since the interview window opened last week.

"At least five teams, when I walked into the draft on Saturday morning I was bombarded," said Diamond.

#Flames announce Oliver Kylington has signed his entry level contract. This paves the way for him to play in AHL if that route is preferred.

The Brandon Wheat Kings have his CHL rights and that team is picked to be a Memorial Cup contender next season. Either way, this is good news.

Gonna suggest he go the Nylander route - start the season in Sweden, move to the AHL midway through.

Yeah, I agree, although there is a glut of AHL defensemen for the Flames in Stockton, if he does come over to NA, he'll probably get a lot more ice time in Brandon.

recap of Treliving discussing Kylington on Fan 960:

- contract opens up options in terms of development
- ultimately Oliver is still under contract with AIK
- by the terms of the transfer agreement Flames can sign him while he has a contract to AIK
- If the Flames decide to assign him to AHL or WHL he must be offered back to AIK because he is not a 1st round pick
- Will participate in Penticton and main camp
- Need to discuss things with people in Sweden to see where he ends up.
- Will try and make best decision for Oliver's development

- Thought he came into development camp and looked good
- Elite skater but 18 years old
- Needs physical development and development in playing in his own end

- By signing him now, it gives Flames better options

- Need patience
- Fact they signed him today does not mean they are going to push him into the line up
- He needs time

lol - Kylington will have a choice of either

a) Stockton, California
b) Brandon, Manitoba, or
c) remaining in Sweden

/Isn't Sons of Anarchy filmed in Stockton?
