I'm really enjoying the Giordano - Brodie and Wideman - Russell defense pairings. Not so crazy about SOB - Butler though (those guys scare me everytime they are on the ice).

Since '08, the only players to score points in each of their 1st 4 gms are Jamie McBain, Hagelin, Conacher and now Monahan.

Ryan Lambert thinks the Flames should send Monahan back to his junior team and has a bunch of advanced stats to back up his assertion. Isn't it dangerous to rely on advanced stats on such a small sample set (in this case, five games)? I have no doubt that the Flames are sheltering his minutes and he's likely facing the 2nd and 3rd defense pairs when he's on the ice. I also think that in a season with low to no expectations, he's going to have ample opportunity to learn and develop at the NHL level. It also appears that Monahan and Baertschi are developing some good chemistry, why would you want to break that up when it seems to be working?

If he's playing well they should keep him with the big club. The Flames really have nothing to lose. For Monahan it's a great learning experience. At some point this year he's bound to have a cold streak. How he adjusts to how the rest of the league adjusts to him will be fun to watch dash. I'm sure there's some fear about rushing him, but so far so good. It ticks me off that Garth Snow is afraid to put guys like Nelson, Strome & Reinhart in the lineup because guys like Bailey & Niederreiter were rushed. Every player is different.

Last night's game against the Ducks was the first game where Monahan looked "not ready" for full time NHL competition. Flames have a tough decision on their hands.

Flames have unveiled a 3rd jersey (I don't know what was wrong with the vintage ones from the 80's but whatever). These ones are kinda meh in my opinion, not horrible, not terrific either.

/also, both Stempniak and Giordano in walking boots, Gio's injury doesn't seem all that serious though, Stempniak could be out for some time.

@FriedgeHNIC: Apparently, CAL told Joey MacDonald he will be going on waivers today. Always been a fan of his, maybe some teams that need help will look.

I like Joey Mac the person, but he definitely wore the goat horns last night.
