I dont see they cant do this. take a 2-3 year hit and come out stronger than before. The Calgary Canucks can do what the Vancouver Canucks could not.... properly rebuild

Plus side, Flames should be able to absolutely fucking rake in draft picks by trading these guys and make it so that any retool can be pretty expedient. The cap flexibility will help them maximize returns too, especially if they enter next season as somewhat of a lost season anyway.

I've read some articles that indicate that Oliver Kylington is in a much better place now than he was a year ago and is ready to make a return to the Flames. If true, that makes moving Hanifin easier to stomach (well that and the fact that it sounds like he's ready to move on from Calgary as well).

Didnt Backlund request a trade after last season too when Gaudreau and Tkachuk told the team they werent re-signing and wanted out respectively? .. i guess the surprise is he keeps flip flopping because Backlund was one of the rumoured guys who rescinded his trade request after Dutter was fired

lol - I read that Athletic article about how Dutter lost the team and it was quite damning of his behavior. You can't blame guys for wanting the hell out of there.

if life in Vancouver has taught me anything, if he slaps an N on the back of that baby, he can drive it in ANY conditions!
