Lol damn better start worrying about 2-3 years from now when they’ll only have $60 mil in cap space. That’s gonna be some big trouble.

All you can ask for a fan is that the club you support is actively trying to be a contender for a championship. It takes a lot of luck to win a title and you have to be willing to gamble on the present at the expense of the future. Will the Flames be a better team in 2022/23? It remains to be seen, but I think Treliving has done a great job making lemonade out of the lemons he was handed to start this off-season.

There’s a 50% chance Marky becomes a sieve, Tanev is too broken to be effective, Kadri takes his paycheck and goes back to early Toronto days Kadri and Huber is completely useless without Barkov but fuck it’s still better than doing nothing.

There’s this weird obsession in NHL media about “how’s that gonna look in a few years” when the goal is to win today.

/also 3 of the guys he mentioned won’t even be under contract in 2-3 years so I don’t understand his point lol

I will add that this is the best the Flames have looked down the middle of the ice including the goaltender position in quite some time (arguably since the late 80's).

Combine that with a good, deep blueline and you have a team with the potential to make some noise.

Nice change of pace, the first thing anyone slams the Jackets for is they are too young and need experience.

Can't wait for your guys' Patrick Marleau-like signing then!

/Only skaters on the Avs this season over 30 were Erik Johnson, Jack Johnson, Andrew Cogliano and Darren Helm (only 30 year old was Kadri). I'm not saying the Avs still win the Cup without all 4 but I have a gut feeling they would've probably been ok with 25 year old replacement-level players in lieu of either of them.
