I mean, the only guys hurt are Murray (Sammy's been fine and Kallgren would've won that game if the team in front of him wasn't dogshit so that's no excuse), Liljegren (big loss) and Muzzin (might be a net benefit here lol). That said, if you excuse the Coyotes game the start's been fine really, not great but nothing I'm losing sleep over and that's without Matthews having really gotten going yet.

I just think things like this only get out when the room isn't in the best place and I'm wondering if that's what's happening here - really, if something is to be said about Keefe's comments in the press it should come from Tavares, not Marner. And I think it's bad on Keefe that he felt the need to explain shit other than "you guys fucking sucked, the home fans are booing you 4 games in and you couldn't even put 30 shots on a team that had faced 50+ and 40+ in their previous 2 games, be better". Keefe had to say something to the media and there's no real way to sugarcoat this one any less than there was when they lost the EBUG game. If the room is lost based on that I don't think firing Keefe if things head south is going to fix anything.

This episode seems strange. It's a mediocre start but so was last year; nobody should be losing their shit over it (although try explaining that to the good folks over at HF). Maybe there are some dressing room issues but it's probably just another cases of -- "there's less to this story than meets the eye".

Lilli can't get back fast enough!

Not really Toronto related but since this thread gets lots of action...

Am I the only one who has a problem with throwing octopi onto the ice after a goal is scored in Detroit? Octopi are highly intelligent creatures, much like dolphins and whales. There'd be hell to pay if someone were to throw a dead dog or cat on the ice after a goal so why not hell to pay for an octopus? Also, in these times especially, people are having problems putting food on the table and I think even more so than before that the practice of throwing Octopi on the ice is a little crass.

It isn't a story if Keefe doesn't walk back his perfectly fine comments on Monday. They brought this shit on themselves.

If the $11 mil+ players don't like the mean words don't mail it in against the Coyotes lol. Keefe going back on calling them out isn't a great look for a coach managing a bunch of guys who haven't gotten shit done in 5 years of trying.

These guys look like shit again. Dubas & Keefe's seats are going to be scorching if they pull this shit for another 40.

Stars are hard to play against and probably have the best goaltending tandem in the league.
I wasn't completely sold on the DeBoer hire but I gotta admit - the change from a "thoughts & prayers" offense to an attacking style which seems to fit the personnel has been a pleasure to watch so far. Developing a 2nd line (healthy Seguin) that can actually put offensive pressure on the opponent doesn't hurt. They do need to figure out how to cut down on the penalties (20 of 22 on the kill through 5 games but damn) and the 2nd PP line is still a work in progress but this has been a fun team to watch again.

And yeah. Otter & Wedgewood are pretty damn solid back there.

Everyone in Leaf land happy because Simmonds draws in vs the Jets tomorrow because yay grit.

Which is funny because Simmonds fucking sucks and is probably going to be in the box at least twice for the dumbest reason possible.

I'm not sure on this one. It'd be nice to be able to keep dinks like Pionk in line, but not at the expense of being shorthanded all night.

Doubling down lmao.

I know games between these two have been heated but the Jets aren’t having a great start and are down Ehlers put your skill out there and fuck them up on the scoreboard, I don’t get this.

Why isn’t Malgin getting a go on the third line? Why is it second line or bust for him? Do they not need depth scoring or is the bottom six just supposed to be a black hole that clears the zone but gives it right back over and over?

Lots of Leaf Twitter stars throwing out last nights Avs loss to Seattle as some sort of comparison to the Leafs blowing it vs. AZ as if the Avs haven’t earned some trust from their fanbase in the last decade.

Clifford and Simmons on the ice together seems like high event hockey.

This is the first time I’ve seen the Leafs this year and I like how they look.
