I don't get it...
Happened against a Leaf.I don't get it...
At some point you gotta just assume the refs are purposely swallowing the whistles and the league isn’t protecting their players.
Still mad at Gaudreau obviously.A lot of similar complaints from Flames fans last night against the Penguins. Looking at last night's box score, only one minor penalty called against Pittsburgh last night (Flames had 3 which is low for them as well).
Happened against a Leaf.
/I’m only half-joking at this point. They’ve been bottom of the league in called penalties for three years now. At some point you gotta just assume the refs are purposely swallowing the whistles and the league isn’t protecting their players.
They've been one of the highest scoring teams for years now. Is there any place on the ice where infractions are more likely to occur than in front of the net?Dont recall which network but I listened to one "analyst" suggest that the Leafs dont get calls because they dont like to go into the dirty areas where infractions are more likely to take place. Complete nonsense and does not come close to addressing "hockey plays" like the Okposo hit
seems to me the indicator is puck possession. They've been one of the highest scoring teams for years now. Is there any place on the ice where infractions are more likely to occur than in front of the net?
haven't dug up numbers, but it seems Leafs would be a pretty decent possession team (or their top line anyways)
We were bad to start the year but...Havent looked either, but my old eyeballs tell me they are not very good at possession.
Off to find some real facts. . .
Considering nobody on the Leafs "goes into the dirty zones" and doesn't have a single "tough guy" that's still way too crazy a number.OK its a slow day at work, so.....
Now I am looking at my new stat, Penalty Plus/Minus. The difference between penalties against a team, less the penalties called on that team. By "penalties" I mean times shorthanded.
Florida is +23. They have had 23 more PPO than times shorthanded. In 33 games.
Next is Winnipeg at +21.
Dropping down a bit, the team at the biggest disadvantage is, drum roll,
Anaheim -22 (last year they were -59 and dead last again)
Then SJS at -21
Then DAL at -18
TOR is only -12 (23rd in League)
At least he'll have more time to focus on his metal bandWas wondering what the hell happened to Ian Scott. That's a real shitty injury for a goalie who looked like he may have had a shot at the NHL.
