I’ll say this much about Hakstol, the Leafs’ defence and PK were solid last season for the first time in a long time and he was in charge of both.

In other news the Montreal Canadiens farm team will be playing out of Paris, France next year. ^^^^ Almost the same distance away.

So that's less than ideal I would say. WTF are they thinking?
probably needed to split a squad with someone to start due to a less than robust prospect pool.
not an easy task as Canucks did it last year with St Lou and there was infighting as to who goalie would get the starts
(wouldn't you know it, benning lost a negotiation there, too)

Canucks have also historically had their farm way the fuck over there. Utica, Fredericton, Syracuse, Hamilton...
Chicago and Winnipeg were among the closest in recent memory.
Apparently they wanted the players to be "central", but come on... it's not like we play a shit ton of games in the east.

It's temporary regardless, they're going to be partnered with Palm Springs' AHL team from 2022 onward.

They probably tried to get split rights with Abbottsford but gave up after trying to negotiate with Benning and Benning kept asking "what do you mean there's an NHL team in Seattle?!" and hanging up in disbelief.
