Why is OV behind sid in pts for a career when he's played 200 more games?

Because hockey counts assists and goals the same in terms of points even though you can have more than one assist with a goal and an assist litterally can't happen without a goal (though the inverse is not true).

I'm obviously joking about Syd and OV and the ">" or "<" thing, but I have never understood why the NHL counts points like that.
