The Penguins drafted a guy in the 3rd round of that same draft who turned out to be pretty good, but he decided to go to the WHA rather than the NHL.

He had a nice career with the Jets. Probably made a good choice. Penguins didn’t make the playoffs much or got bounced in heartbreaking fashion in those days lol

I think the big lure to go to the WHA and specifically Houston was the chance to play with Gordie Howe. Mark and Marty were also there
