So instead of being ready for the start of the season you can miss the first two months.

Eh, Sometimes physical therapy looks like it's working but you get to a point where it becomes clear it isn't going to improve things enough. I should have had surgery on my knee at least a year and a half before I actually did, and my livelihood doesn't rely on working joints. I can give him a bit of a pass here.
