Are we at the point where you need to seriously consider trading Draisaitl because let's face it, they're not going to trade McDavid unless he forces a trade. Not even sure what you would get for RNH at this point would help more than what RNH currently brings to the table.

What a mess.
The problem with RNH is under contract for the next 7 years. Not sure anyone will want that contract. Unfortunately the Oilers would have to eat plenty of it.

Where would you rank it along with Keith, Koskinen, Smith etc… lol

The thing is every GM makes mistakes (some of Treliving's free agent signings have been really bad), but you hope that the mistakes can be limited over time. I think when Ken Holland arrived he had 26 million in cap space and he just frittered it away with terrible signings. It's pretty bad when the best thing the Oilers can hope for is a draft lottery win.

That's a good point. The offer is now only Korpisalo.

It’s comical how much different GM’s have botched EVERYTHING over the last 10+ years. If 29 and 97 don’t ask out after this season they must be gluttons for punishment. It’s fairly obvious whatever the fuck the organization has been trying to do isn’t working.

It's a long contract but it's cheap as hell for a player as good as him. There'd be a fight for it I think. I think the one they're probably stuck with is Hyman.

If Drai doesn't ask out this summer I have no idea why not. I can't believe he's waited this long. That's professional as hell but personally I would've been gone after last season latest.

I'll say this, if Edmonton acts this summer in clearing house, gets a competent GM, cashes in Drai, RNH, Puljujarvi, maybe Hyman, and add good prospects and a few firsts to what is admittedly a somewhat decent prospect pool as it is (how they haven't traded any of their first round picks since 2006 is beyond me but right now it's definitely going to come in handy) they could be decent again in 2 years or so. But it's far more likely they'll keep Holland and keep everyone unless they ask out and suck again so you're ok for now Dash :D

is that the first time terry jones has not been in full fellatio mode over the oilers and their owner/management group?

How dare you besmirch a Hall of Fame writer like Terry Jones?

:D

I believe the Jackets would be in on RNH in a heartbeat. There was a rumor they had serious talks on him a few times but Edmonton kept wanting Jones. His AAV is good and the last few years would be rough but he's still a solid player with skill beyond the results in Edmonton. I know it would take more than Korpi - the question is how much... Foudy and Kukan? More?

So if he waives his NMC, to facilitate a trade now, does the new team have to honor it going forward? I would love to have him for the next 4-5 years and send him on his way. That would be perfect.

At this pace McDavid is going to break Dionne's record of pts without a Stanley Cup.

So I guess Holland expects nothing better than 7th place in the Pacific over the next few seasons?
