I’m gonna defend Tippett here a bit. His goalies fucking suck.

Yeah, the rest of the team isn’t great, and he probably had a large hand in assembling it, but if the goalies suck they suck. When you’re on this much of a shit streak I don’t think it serves anybody to not point that out.

Can’t defend him doubling down on it though. Say your piece and move forward.

They have run two pretty good goalies out of town though in Dubnyk and Talbot. Like I said the other day, I don't know if the Oil cheaped out when Markstrom was available, but they should have made an offer that the Flames weren't willing to match. Also, it's going to be tough to bring in a quality goalie when that Nurse contract kicks in next season.

The fact he praised Keith’s leadership in the midst of all of this leads me to believe he had a big hand in getting him and his $5 mil cap hit there. That’s some good money that could’ve been used on a goalie instead.

To say nothing of Ceci or Barrie, or not buying out Koskinen. Just so much wasted cap space that could’ve been used to build an actually good team.

I've read that the Oilers are paying Ken Holland 5 shmill per season. Woof!

And two years left after this. Not sure how you can keep him around if the team doesn’t shape up, especially since their cap space going forward is pretty limited.

At least they’re still playing meaningful games in January.

Oilers last 3 games = 5 goals scored.
Brian Rust last 1.5 games = 5 goals scored.

Oilers have scored 2 or fewer goals in their last 12 games. Pretty clear that goaltending is the problem.

They could use a DeSieve. He is pretty much expendable in Pittsburgh.
