I mean, even if you wanted to part ways with Neal, why bring Lucic on board?!? This had Brian Burke's hands all over it and he left three seasons ago.

The only hope here really is that he's sent to Robidas Island after a year. Does that outweigh sending a divisional rival a useful asset for an anchor? No but I guess they must've really felt stuck with Neal.

I just figured they would take a shave in a trade and eat a shit ton of salary while maybe basing the return on how Neal performed (ie: 3rd rounder if he scores less than 20 goals, 2nd rounder if more, applies for 2 seasons).

I still can't understand how the Flames could there was upside to this trade. Neal had/has the potential for a bounce back year. Anyone with eyes probably puts Lucic's chances of regaining his form at about 0.01%.
