Draisaitl's points are quite misleading as well, take him off McDavid's line and the power play and he produces very little.

Maybe in the past but not so much so far this season - he's only played 31 of 195 5v5 minutes with McD, there's only been 3 goals scored by the Oilers in those 31 minutes and only on one of those did the two combine for a goal (in the first game of the season).

Taking away Drai's 6 power play points and that goal, Drai's had 8 non-McD 5v5 points in 14 games. Seems pretty alright to me, moreso when factoring in that he's spending most of his 5v5 time with Tobias Rieder (career high 37 pts) and Alex Chiasson (35 pts).

Is Drai overpaid for an RFA, something that kinda went and totally fucked up the market? Yeah.

Is he worth $8.5 mil to someone and therefore paid what he should be paid? Yeah.

Is it messed up that both of those things can be true at the same time and thus the reason the salary cap is dumb as fucking hell and benefits nobody except the shittiest of cheap owners (Hi Eugene)? Oh yeah.
