Hey Matty, can you photoshop John Shannon in place of Gary Coleman in that classic Messier pic?

I see McDavid is getting the Gretzky treatment from the zebras.

I went to bed just as Calgary scored their second straight shorty. Guess the Oilers didn't Oiler for long.

So math isn't exactly my strong point, but if my numbers are correct, Edmonton is going to go 82-0 and will score 574 goals this year.

Poor McDavid though. 164 goal season and he won't win the Richard.

They recognize the poor kid is tired, and they are cutting him some slack.

4-3 Oilers and Johnny Hockey is being hooked and held as he closes in on Talbot and of course no call. Oilers player picks up the loose puck and passes it to McDavid who goes wide on Wideman (not a tough task) and Wideman sneezes on him and the ref gives McDavid a penalty shot. Instead of the Flames going on a power play with a chance to tie the game, McDavid makes it 5-3 Oilers (it was a beauty of a penalty shot). That wsa basically the game right there.

That all said, it's not a good start when you're thinking that Jonas Hiller would have saved the shot multiple times last night.

I'm putting last night down to new goalies having a shaky first outing that they will pay back for with a shutout next game.

(I think it was said on the Flames-Oilers telecast that if this weren't a new goalie in his first game, Gully probably would've pulled Elliott early. Gotta agree with that)

Gully needs to start thinking (or stop overthinking) and put Gio and Brodie back together as a defense pairing. Also, Grossmann needs a permanent spot on popcorn row (fired into the sun is another option) and Double J needs to be in the lineup.
