Is there some reason I'm forgetting for your distaste for Smid? I feel like there was an incident that I can't quite place.

Whatever it is, I think this solidifies the Flames D.

He has a sneaky dirty element to his play that has always rubbed me the wrong way. Of course, it doesn't help matters that he has worn the Oilers uniform the last several seasons. But as I said above, he's better than Chris Butler (of course, that doesn't take much).

Edit: Also, when you look at what the Flames gave up (Horak and Brossoit), from a player standpoint, I think it's a pretty good move by Feaster and Burke. I just have to get by my dislike of Smid.

Saw a tweet earlier about Smid being brought in as a youngster to grow with edmonton's rebuild, and then sold as a veteran for younger parts for the very same rebuild.
