Dammit. 6-8 weeks. Took one in the chops standing on the bench.
If Provorov fits and is willing to settle for something reasonable they can do a lot worse than keep him.![]()
This both excites and terrifies me. But doesn't scare me as much as if Jarmo said we'd be buyers.
Thing is, Provorov has been brilliant and has a 3 game goal streak and tied it last night. I know in my heart they should trade him, but it's getting harder and harder to want to.
It was said that Provorov was holding firm at 8 years and wasn't willing to entertain anything else. Now rumors are he would accept less term but higher AAV. At 5 years if he falls off a cliff at 3, it's fine. 8 years, not so much. If they can't agree, I would love it if Jackets chased Ekblad. If Provorov fits and is willing to settle for something reasonable they can do a lot worse than keep him.
Historically the Jackets always have one god awful contract on the books anyway and right now they don’t really (Severson maybe but that’s hardly keeping anyone up at night). Even if Provorov’s deal rots quickly it’s just keeping up with tradition.
I think it's pretty unlikely. Don has been very clear that he is not playing this year and may not even resume skating before the year is out. They aren't going to make a decision on next year until summer. The priority is rehab and strength training. There are reports (unconfirmed mind you) that Lindstrom was spotted at the arena in Medicine Hat last night. Could he be getting ready to join the Tigers for the last part of the season/playoffs?
Zach extended his home point streak to 20 games. Only guys to have done more are named Orr (25), Coffey (23) and Housely (22).
He has also set the mark for points by a Jackets defenseman in a season with 58. He had 57 last year in 70 games. He's got 58 in 52 games.
