BBB still wouldn't take him.

I like Werenski but I don't think he's progressed the past two years the way he looked like he would in his first two years. Not entirely sure I trust him without Seth Jones next to him, at least not enough to trade a guy on pace for 30 goals and 70 pts for.

At this point I would have to consider real hard if I'd take Marner for Zach. All this John Carlson talk (and it's justified) but Zachie Dubs now leads the NHL in goals by a defenseman.

He is one off his own club record for season goals. We're halfway.

Marner's on a 112 point pace over 82 games. He had 94 pts in a full 82 last year. He's also 22 years old.

Also, since I was speaking strictly regarding a trade to the Leafs, his offensive outburst still doesn't exactly do anything in terms of helping the Leafs. Which was kinda my point to begin with. They already have two very good offensive defencemen.

It'd be nice to win every game 7-4 instead of 6-4 but it'd be better to start winning them 5-2 and have a sturdier blue line going into the playoffs, lord willing they make it.

Since the Pittsburgh debacle, the guy has almost a .950 sv % and under 2.5 GAA.

He still gives up the occasional WTF goal, but good lord he makes some saves that just melt my brain. And I get the distinct sense that when the opponents pull their goalie he has his sights on netting one himself.
