I bet you I was at a minimum of 300 Penguins games and the 50-50 at that time was all done in house, you couldn't buy tickets through their website to enter the 50-50. You could only buy 50-50 tickets if you were actually in the arena.

In all of those times there was not one person nearby that I ever heard yell "I won" or even react like they had the winning ticket.

To me the law of averages was that I would be around somebody at some point who won in all of those games that I was in attendance for.

I don't care what anyone says the Penguins 50-50 raffle was a fucking scam

Im laughing because Im thinking about (smaller scale here) in all the years my son has gone out of town to hockey tournaments and there has been 50/50 draws in games, no one in the parent group on any of my sons teams has ever won.

In the last tournament, one of the "volunteers" from the organizer was selling tickets in the morning game and was telling us all "hey no one won the draw in your game last night ... check your tickets" so we all do and nada. The next day we check the bulletin board in the lobby of the arena to see if anyone won and finally ... some one has claimed the prize and ... the name listed as the winner ... "John Smith" ... GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE :pound: some volunteer just bought their kid a new hockey stick!

/I tried looking for audio of this below ... canucks play by play crew John SHorthouse and Tommy Larscheid win the 50/50 draw during game ... but its all dead links ... it was hilarious ... if anyone has it post it

i remember when shorty and tom "won"

our dog rescue ran fund raising events every year and the grand prize was a draw (like 50/50 tickets) but no split prize. the prize was a trip for 2 anywhere westjet flew tazes and fees included. Westjet always donated it to us.

we had a winner every year. but like you two I have NEVER seen or heard someone win a cash one that wasnt $200 lol

Have a friend who’s family had season tickets up until this year I think they finally gave them up. Pretty well off, not astronomical wealthy or anything but nothing to worry about in that department for them.

His sister won the 50-50 last year lol

This probably belongs in the OT: Vancouver People thread but a few years ago, the University of Victoria gymnastics team had a 50/50 and I actually won it (I think it was around $450, so my take was approximately $225). I decided to donate it back to the team as they had some travel coming up and could use every penny.

very noble of you fine sir

the deal has always been that if any one of the parents win one of these tournament game 50/50 draws, it goes straight into the parent group booze budget for drinking in the arena parking lot muster areas.

Francesco Aquilini also thinks everyone should give back the 50-50 money.
