We'll see how Tanev looks ln year 3 and 4 of his contract, but right now I would argue he's Calgary's best defenseman and if not a bargain at 4 shmill, then a very good deal. Marky was overplayed by a head coach who was in over his head and subsequently got injured, but I still like that signing.

yeah, i didn't slight those players at all.
Tanev and Marky are great additions. The term on both of those deals is going to bite in a couple of years (Marky especially).

I didn't think you were slighting the players and as far as overpaying for UFAs, well that's just par for the course in the NHL. Hey, at least the Flames prevented Markstrom from signing with Edmonton
