The Oilers did this several years ago as well - They won a meaningless last game of the season and finished 6th overall instead of 5th (leapfrogging Chicago). Chicago ended up winning the lottery and drafted Patrick Kane. The Oilers took Sam Gagner.

I'm not sure that it says very much about either if we're just talking about ability and quality of play. It's interesting though.

Tells me that Sedin's shooting percentage has GOT to revert somewhere back toward the mean. I mean it just has to.
Also, that Kassian could be a heck of a player if he ever gets decent linemates / ice time.

right. locked in at 6th (pre lottery) no matter the outcome of tonight's game. Canes have more ROW's than us, so we can't pass them
