Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy bacon
lol - Pierre's phone is blowing up as they close the interview.
I'm so glad they walked away for a couple of reasons11. Here’s what it sounds like happened with Vancouver, Buffalo and Evander Kane. There were a lot of assumptions the price would be low, that the Sabres would be so desperate to do this that the Canucks would get a steal.
Sabres GM Tim Murray made it clear that would not be the case. (Neither team would comment.)
If Murray does indeed want to get the hell out from under the Kane deal, he probably just misplayed his only chance at splitting the pot.
Kane's UFA after next season. If you wait until summer and he continues to suck you're going to be stuck with an overpaid locker room cancer for another year that you gave up a lot of assets to get, none of which you will be recuperating.
It is promising for you guys that there still seems to be some logic in that office somewhere.I'm so glad they walked away for a couple of reasons
- it shows that they CAN walk away. After seeing Benning dish out draft picks like they are halloween candy over the last couple of years, I was beginning to doubt that he could actually say no.
- as mentioned in article. Kane is now 5 years from his last 30 goal season, with a lot of injuries and baggage betwixt then and now. I liked him a lot as a Giant, but he's would have to be in the discount bin at this point to even consider taking that chance
